| Car seats? So, like most of the fur babies here, Gizmo goes with us everywhere. Many times, he rides in my lap (I'm the driver) or on the seat or on my husband's lap. I've seen the car seats and I know they're for the safety of the dog. But for those that have one, did you baby actually sit in it? I mean when I'm by myself in the car, Gizmo lays on my lap and just sleeps while I drive (unless I'm in a drive thru, then he needs to see if he can con the drive-thru lady to give him a biscuit). So, I was just wondering other YT'ers experience with the car seats.

| There is def some training involved with using car seats. Esp if your pups is already accustomed to riding in your lap. It can be done though.

| We use a car seat. She gets buckled in it and really has no choice. It's for her safety and there really can't be a training period to get them used to it when you're driving (could let them sit in it in the house though with a blanket, etc.). IMO, restraint in the car is very necessary. In an accident, a five pound dog could go straight through the windshield. Ellie loves hers. The ones that go in the backseat are the safest.

| !! When we first got the car seat, I brought it in the house for a while. I put Mrs. Beasley's toys in it along with a blankie. When whe showed interest in it she got a treat. Then when she got in it, we had a party. Next step was to the car. I put her in it and gave her a treat. (she did not go for a ride even then. this process took about 1 or 2 weeks) I made it fun for her and then the first ride she was fine. She loves it!

| Riding with them in your laps is dangerous and not safe you never know when you could have an accident and if not buckled in they could get thrown around and hurt very bad. Callie at first would not stay in her carseat even buckled in but I rode next to her in the back seat and would say no and place her back in and eventually she got it. Now if the car door open even if you not ready for her to she will jump into the car and sit in her carseat she loves it.

| Mine are always restrained in the car, they are almost always in a carrier that is belted into the car- sometimes I will just use a seatbelt harness and let them lay on the seat. I also always keep them on the passenger seat- it is the only seat in my car that allows the airbag to be turned off- an airbag could kill a small dog.

| Does anyone have a suggestion as to what type of backseat carseat they like? I would love to see a picture. I have been on the hunt for a carseat that would hold Mina 5lbs and Amigo 10lb chi. I assume that I would need to be able to harness two in. We will be taking a long trip later this summer. A dog riding in the drivers lap can be crushed by an airbag or thrown in the floorboard during a crash and rescuers would have NO idea that your baby was in the car if you are not able to speak. Scary, scary stuff. |

| I think Monkey really likes having an "assigned seat" in the car. The first time was the trickiest just to get him to understand that he couldn't try to jump down but then I had his blanket there and a toy for him too. I bought the larger seat for them with two tethers for their restraining harnesses. That is one thing I regret tho because I feel like they step on top of each other sometimes. Not that they don't step on top of each other in other scenarios too but I think they should both have their own space. I will probably "upgrade" to two separate boosters at some point.

| Three Yorkie Friends Car Seats - Three Yorkie Friends Travel and Lifestyle Accessories I have one similar to this one. I'm starting to wish to I had this one with no straps going down the front. Kaji didn't like it at first, but I don't give him a choice. Otherwise, he'd be sitting right by the clutch. I like this kind vs the snoozer because I have a small car (coupe) and this one collapses easily when I actually have passengers. (which isn't often)

| I got this one earlier this year prior to a road trip from Vegas to Ft. Worth. We took a few practise runs around town and they did great on the trip. They would squirm a little when we first got started but they settled down quickly and slept most of the trip. The seat works back seat or front. My front seat airbags can't be turned off but have a sensor with a minimum weight before they'll activate and the kids weren't heavy enough at 5.5 & 9 pounds to turn it on. They both had enough room to lay down or sit up and watch out the window. |

| I don't like the kind that hang on the seat headrest. They seem too flimsy & unstable (maybe just the kind I had....). I have the pet gear booster. I put it in the middle of the backseat so ZoE can see out the front windshield cos my car has tiny lil windows in the back. This is the kind I have: Amazon.com: Large Booster Car Seat Charcoal:...

| I love our snoozers. I have an small and a medium sized. More importantly, the babies like them. I have it up front in the passenger seat as my air bag is off. Hot Rod will try to climb out and try to get to me but Maggie is perfectly content in it. One time "Brendarash" and I were going somewhere close by so I was just going to have her hold Maggie May. Well, Maggie wanted in her carseat no matter what, lol. The snoozer was in the backseat filled with stuff, dang if Maggie May didn't jump from the front seat/console to the back seat and climb into her snoozer that only had probably 2" of space for her to fit in. lol I didn't realize just how much she liked her carseat until then.

| I have a Lookout one like this..... Pet Console Car Seat for Small Dogs It sits on my center console so she can look out and still be tethered in. Tatum LOVES it! She hops right up in it and waits to be hooked up. I had an accident with my 8 week old toy poodle in the car with me about 22 years ago or so. Rolled the car about 5 times. The cause.... Dax running back and forth on the seat and in my lap. Very scary. Non-dog lover people sometimes think it's silly when they see it but I usually have them convinced very quickly. I highly recommend car seats for all pet owners. Even big dogs can (and should) be tethered to a seat belt.
