YT Addict | Getting flack for putting bows in Gizmo's Hair Good morning gang, hey let me ask you guys something........my Gizmo is a male and everytime I put a bow in his hair I get people either think he is a girl or they say..why you put ribbons in a boys hair. I thought the yorkie Top Knot was a signature. Is there anything wrong with putting bows in a males hair. What do you guys think? Cynthia

| I used to get flack also so I kinda compromised and would only put a red, blue or black bow/tie on him. I did eventually trim his topknot--because he was more comfortable.

| There is nothing wrong with bows in boys' hair. They wear them at dog shows. I use little scrunchies in my boys' hair and people have thought the Yorkie signature red is girlish. Many people assume my boys are girls even when they are wearing simple black bands in their hair and black harnesses/leashes. Do what you want to do and laugh off the comments from other people.

No Longer a Member | People always think Rizzo is a girl I usually stick with blue, green, orange, black, or white yet they still think he's a girl. I just go with it, he doesn't know what they're saying and it doesn't bother me any. I've just been sticking with scrunchies lately, they're easy to put on and they don't bother him any. |

| ^^ I walked Teddy past some construction workers sitting on their truck and the one man said, "Beautiful girl!" Teddy turned his head and growled and I interpreted, "I'm a boy, I'm a boy!" They guys laughed heartily and said they were sorry. I told them, no problem.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Nothing wrong at all with boys wearing the bows. It would be neat if we got different shapes, say a square, or a skull and crossbones shape, or how about a shape that is written on it I'm a man, yes I am! lol lol Seriously though doesn't bother me, sometimes I say he is a he, but most often I just say nothing but thanks!

| Take a look at KendraE pics of her dog Bevo...she keeps him in a bow now, I believe, and they are very "manly" bows...footballs, longhorns, etc. Together with his clothes he looks "all boy". Plus, he's just a doll so it's fun to see his pics!

| Darlin Beauxs has a just for boys section. Results for Darlin Beauxs just for BOYS Amy does an excellent job! BowBiz also does bows. I did not find a separate section for boys but I know Susan would be glad to help. Dog Bows, Quality Dog Bows - Yorkie, Maltese, Shih Tzu - by BowBiz Both do such wonderful jobs on their bows. I think you would be so pleased!

| You should do whatever you want. I have gotten flack for dressing mine in clothes, putting them in a carrier, having them in a stroller, etc, etc. I know how my dogs are treated, I know what their quality of life is, I know how happy they are- and that is all that matters to me. People will always find something to talk about, so let them talk. I am sure your little guy looks very handsome in his bows

| I have a girl, but if I had a boy he would wear bows too. I LOVE them. I'd just correct them and go on, and if they had something to say I'd be sure to remind them he's my dog, not theirs.
