| How often do you go the vet? I was reading a post on another forum and someone took their dog to the vet for the first time in 5 years apparently and was mad that they had to pay $250. My dogs at a minimum go for annual appointments where they have bloodwork, fecal test, check up, etc. Although it seems like I never make it more then a couple of months before someone has something come up that they need to see a vet- but aside from that they would always go every year no matter what. If I got away with $250.00 in vet bills over the span of 5 years- I would be throwing a party (you would all be invited!) not complaining. So- now I am curious- How often do you go to the vet.

| Every six months and as needed. I get out heartworm preventative for 6 months at a time and then on our last pill set up a well checkup. Our new vet doesnt charge for the actual visit if you buy the meds there and they are the same price as online. Otherwise, its a small fee of 20 bucks or so plus testing. Shes great and i can walk to her office (that close)

| With Rosie and three outside dogs and one cat I seem like I am there all the time! Once a year for sure. But seems like one of them always end up needing something else. $250 in five years would be a party throwing event for sure! My last vet visit on Rosie was $400. And that was only one visit!

| I take Jada and Bogie for their annual checkup and then split up their vaccines so that is another 2 visits. I drop in for Jada's nail trim and also drop in about every 6 weeks or so and weigh them both. My vet has a small office at his home which is 2 minutes from my house where he does the annual exams and smaller stuff..he has a large office about 30 minutes away where we go if we have to have ultra-sounds, x-rays etc. There are two vets who work for him and they rotate between the two offices. We are in there all the time for something. Of course my DIL and my SIL are both techs so we sometimes just go to visit and they both get us gift certificates for Christmas that we can use for office visits, meds etc. I have had Jada and Bogie 2 years and we have been at least 7 or 8 times for misc stuff and countless times for just visiting. I have tried to do this from the beginning so Jada and Bogie don't associate going there for something bad, and they are both very relaxed going and never get stressed. Our vet also lets us use his salt water pool in the summer

Smart idea on keeping them stress free. When we walk into the vet office Rosie freaks out! Wish I would of thought of ways to prevent it. Another good idea on getting gift certificates. Never thought of that!

| Vet Sprocket goes to the doctor once a year or as needed, just like I do. He has health insurance, just like I do, $250, for a whole year? Not bad, course I only have one dog to go and any other visits are really cheap, EXCEPT of course weekends nobody can go to the doctor on the weekends cheap, human or vet!!

| I take mine every 6 months for a Full Wellnes Exam that includes Blood Work Up. Also if any thing crops up they are at the Vet in a flash.

| With Princess still being relatively young she's been a lot to spread out vaccines/boosters, parasite screens, spay....but I think once she's UTD on her shots in about a week we'd go at least once a year for a well check & parasite screen, but probably twice a year for well visits & hopefully nothing in between.

| Now I understand why our vet's staff cringe when they have to present the bill. They first give a detailed description of the services rendered. A lot of people must complain when it comes to the bill. How often do we go? About once a week. For Max and his eye. We also split up vaccinations, so we have been there often.

| We have 5 dogs so we are at the Vet at least once a mo. for something. Routine visits are once a year that includes labs etc. Our vet likes us to do poop screening every 4 mo.s because our dogs go to a lot of public places. |

| We go once a year for a full check up and shots, heartworm test etc. Other than that if someone is sick we go immediately. Lately between having fosters and Pixie being hit by a car, seems like I live at the vet. they were teasing me that if I came in anymore they would have to start charging me rent. I said no soon i will just have to start working for you so I can afford all of this LOL. I also asked her what college i sent her child to LMAO

| I mean, he's only 2 1/2 years old so technically he's been kind of a lot. But as he gets older, I may not do yearly unless something requires us to go. Then again, I don't go to the doctors yearly either, so I dunno. He obviously went 4x as a pup (12 week, 16 week, rabies). Then at one year for boosters. He went once when he came up limping, of course I took him in. He went twice for kennel cough (well, actually, he didn't even go in-they told me to just pick up antibiotics as to not spread it). Umm... I don't know, probably 2 or 3 other times besides those. So he's kind of been a lot in a span of 2 1/2 years. I guess the only reason he'd go in yearly is to get his bordatella vaccine. Rabies will be every 3yrs. Everytime I get charged for a "check up" I feel it's kind of a rip off. They feel around his body for all of 60 seconds and say "okay, he's great!" and tack on $55 for it but it does give me peace of mind, I like them to check his patellas and stuff.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | We go for the annual exam and in between as needed for what ever pops up. I also go in to get their nails trimmed between grooming sessions (which is also done at my vet's office!) All told, I'm probably there once a month for one reason or another.

| The minimum we would ever go is twice a year, because I do keep him current on his kennel cough vaccine. We go once year for an annual exam, twice a year for kennel cough, and everything else is on an as-needed basis. Sometime we go for months without a visit; sometimes we go more often. In the past month, we've been three times! I can't imagine not going in for a yearly checkup...especially for five years straight!
