| first grooming/hair cut experience :( I just needed to share... And, advice to parents taking their babies for their first groom/hair cut... I'm a bit upset at myself... Yesterday we finally brought our 4 1/2 month old "YOKIE" to get his first hair cut/groom. I decided just to pop in and ask if they do walk-ins since we were already out and about. But, from this experience I have learned my lesson. I had it pictured in my head how I wanted him to look like and explained that to the groomer. I picked a clipper size, which was about 1/2 inch and explained to keep a puppy cut on his face and to clean butt area since I was having trouble with dodo always getting stuck on his hair. And, to our surprise when we picked him up, our baby looked so different. He looked like a grown up and not a puppy no more, since all his puppy hair was gone. I'm going to be honest… I miss his puppy hair. He looks so skinny now. It's not the groomer's fault, it’s mine! I didn't know that the clipper size was going to be so short. My advice is to bring a PICTURE of what you want your yorkie to look like instead of just explaining it to the groomer. This is our first puppy and didn't know what to expect but, now I know that the next time I'm coming with a picture of how I want his cut to look like. Also, next time I think I should just ask for a trim and not use the clippers. I hope his hair grows out quickly! Every time I look at our baby, I feel so bad that I went too short. Sorry for my novel, I just had to share... I’ve attached a before and after picture of our “YOKIE”! |

| I agree with so many others. He still looks like a puppy. There is still lots of black on the top of his head. What a cutie. |

| For what it's worth, I love the new haircut. I know it had to be a shock going from looking like a puppy to looking all grown up. I have to say your little one is simply adorable.

YT Addict | He does look so cute. I think it is more that you were shocked because he really does look cute. I have a lot of trouble with my girl not being able to poop because of the hair. Is there anything I can do to fix this myself without hurting her? |

| I think he looks handsome! I love taking in Chester when his hair is long and then picking him up. He looks like a totally different dog, but it is fun to see what a great job my groomer can do. You'll get over the shock. =)

| Thank you all for making me feel better. Yes, I think I was in shock. I wasn't expecting that drastic change. I keep telling myself, I should of came home first and printed out a picture or should of picked a bigger clipper size, etc... I asked for a puppy cut and wished the groomer told me puppy cut's usually don't use clippers just a trim. But again, it's the what if's and should of's again... I definitely have learned my lesson. There's nothing I can do to turn back. He's our same ol' little one just a different look and sooner than later his new grown up look will sink in. My plan now is to let his hair grow out and later take him for the puppy cut I wanted in the first place. But, now I'll come prepared with a picture. : ) Btw, how fast/long does your yorkie's hair grow? Thanks a bunch, Jasmine |

| For our first puppy cut I told them to take of the "scraggily" hair, thinking they would scissor trim it...nope, shaved her down! When they handed her to me I was like "Oh, no!", but about 2 seconds later I realized I loved it, I thought she looked so clean & cute. It's so easy to groom at home & it will grow back fast I'm sure. I think Yokie looks adorable!

| He's adorable! That's the exact cut I got Teddie for his first groom. I missed his puppy fur sure, but he is so dog-gone cute with the new cut I didn't miss it long.
