YT Addict | silky body with a cotten head lol... is this possible? So I've noticed after using some oil in Tikka hair it's been growing so fast the past couple weeks! I'm even starting to see lighter blue come in above her legs! I'm hoping her whole coat will turn that pretty blue color... she is 9 months now! But I have also noticed her head hair is growing, but is still SO thin and more soft and like troll hair, after a bath you'd believe she was balding! And when it's dry it's not the same texture as her body hair... which I believe is silky. Does anyone else have a yorkie like this? Or is she still just maturing?

| My Jewels is just the opposite her head is silky and her body is more modified. If she has any matting it is usually on her body. The texture of the coat usually stays the same. It is the color that changes

| My Lucy is exactly like this! If I don't put her hair up in it's topknot it just sticks straight up on the top, and the front folds over into her eyes. I've come to believe that she's a combination coat, even though she has the green eye flash and rarely mats. She does get some small tangles, but never full on matting. I used to think she was silky because of this, and the fact that she shines brilliantly in certain (especially low) lights, but I've seen a true silk coat, and the shine can't be mistaken. Either her coat is changing it's texture and the shine I see are the hairs that have already had a chance to soften to the silk (which it actually does SOMETIMES do (see the coats sticky, it'll tell you about how some wirey coats change)) or she is combination. She definitely has one of the strangest coats I've ever seen! She is currently a very light creamy color on her head, with a darker tan coming in on and around her ears and face. Her saddle is a mixture of darker, almost blackish blue towards the front and a silver so light it's almost white towards the back. It's the lighter silver that is typically so shiney on her, and that does seem to be coming in more and more. But Lucy just made a year on May 9th, so i'm sure she'll continue to surprise me! |

| Oh, btw, oddly enough, Lucy's legs are the silkiest part on her. You would think their texture would match her head, but it doesn't... How are your babies legs? |

YT Addict | ASTPhi... lol okay i'll answer by comment. comment 1. yeah tikka is the same way! her whole body is silky and her head i swear is cottony! her coloring is almost exactly as you describe, her muzzle and ears are a rich tan while the rest is creamy. her legs are a rich tan and silky too which almost makes me think she is a "red leg" yorkie but her roots are very light so only time will tell. lol I wonder if Tikka with have the reverse saddle of lucy... lighter up front, dark towards the bum! comment 2. i'm including a picture of what i use... it's HUMAN oil lol my hair was fried and stopped growing and my stylist recommended Moroccan Oil but they were out, so she gave me the Aquage Silkening Oil Treatment stuff in the pic because they are the same [$19]. So far it's lasted ME 6 months and it's only half gone.[B] I use three pea size drop after every shower on myself, and about one pea size on Tikka after her baths and then usually once in between. I also use about a dime size of leave in conditioner on Tikka every other bath time [Human stuff too... Herbel Essence [$5], green short/fat bottle.] comment 3. I guess I alread answered that above in my comment 1 reply lol.

| What you described doesn't sound like a soft coat on her head (cotton). A soft coat is really thick all over. Kaji's a soft coated dog and the hair on his head is thick, but straighter and a lot more manageable. His body is another story. It is still thick, but it's a lot curlier. He matts pretty quickly if his hair is long.

| I'm noticing with Max's coat that his body is soft, pin straight and silky. But the hair on his head seems more cottony, and really just messy and unmanageable. I'm hoping that once it gets a little longer it'll start to fall better. But right now his hair on his head looks like Donald Trumps hair

YT Addict | @dvlshangel... I'm not sure what you're trying to say? I know her hair isn't silky on her head lol... it's soft like a cotton ball, and will still up in a point or mohawk all day if I put it up with my hands lol. It's not wiry... I've had wire haired dogs before. Def. just like a cotton ball just thin. Her body is surely silky no doubt... but not her head. Her head gets tangles very easily, I have to brush it out every night. Sometimes twice a day. @AllDogBoots... YES!!! That's it, I was trying to figure out what her hair looks like in this pic [the one I added] and it's definitely THE TRUMP! hahaha, maybe our dogs have the same thing going on. this picture also show what i mean by troll hair... i collected it for some topknot bow pics, when I took the bow out it and it stayed like that all night haha.

That's definitely not a soft coat. (that's what the exhibitors call the cottony coat) Her hair is too thin to be soft/cottony. I think the name is confusing since we feel a soft texture, but the proper name means something else. I was confused as well at first, but it kind makes sense to me now. A soft coat is too thick and heavy to stand up straight to create a mohawk. I think you might have a mixture of both, or what people call a modified coat. Maybe a picture can help? I'll try to find a good picture of Kaji's thick, soft (cottony) head hair.

YT Addict | AllDogBoots... lol very nice, rock on smiley, love it. I wonder what's up with their hair... it's JUST her top knot too... her muzzle seems fine, and her ears... but that top knot is somethin' else hehe. DvlshAngel... I posted a pic above the last 2 or 3 comments, and there's lots of her in my album haha you can see her sweet combover/combback! I wonder if her topknot is just what you called "modified" because it's the only part of her body that is like that "cottony" feel yet very thin...

| Let me know if these help. If not, I'll send Kaji so you can run your fingers through his hair. Hold on, didn't realize first picture was really bad. I'm going to find a new one. Also, notice how Kaji's hair has absolutely no shine. I think your baby girl's hair has some nice shine to it.
