| Essentials for new puppy Well I finally found my new baby and will be bringing him home in a few weeks I have never had a small dog before, only large breeds so I have been lurking around the forum for quite some time. I was hoping some of you experienced owners could list all the supplies that I should have ready for when my new baby comes home. I was working on my own list but I am sure I have probably left out some things I wouldn't even know about I want to make sure everything is set up and ready when I bring him home! Thanks! |

| I would recommend having a bed, 2 bowls (for water and food), few toys, dog food (ask breeder for the brand that she's been feeding the little one), a crate if you plan to crate train, an xpen if you want to leave the puppy in it when you are at work, some pee pee pads, a good enzyme cleaner in case of accidents, shampoo, conditioner, a microfiber towel. These are only the basics, I am pretty sure you will end up buying more. i will recommend ordering them online and not from petco/petsmart as you might end up paying a lot more in store for some of these items. |

| Don't forget a good harness and leash (preferably not a retractable)!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | If you have not read this article, you can read it now: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...w-parents.html I would have a harness and leash; pups should not be walked with a collar. Teething toys, get several of different shapes n sizes. My pups have all loved the teething rings. Puppy proof your home, the scamps can get into everything. I have sliding doors on some of my cupboards, and I have a cat that loves to start the opening, and other dogs who complete the opening... so I've learnt not to put anything on the floor that is dangerous to them. Check your fence line, make sure there are no openings a wee one can slip out of. Good luck with your new pup
