Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | if the fleas are so bad that they are bothering you too then you have a serious flea infestation. You might need to have your house bombed and the yard treated as well. If its not that bad then what you need to do is get a Capstar from your vet and give it to your dog. It will start killing fleas on the dog within 30 minutes. You also need to make an appointment with a groomer and tell them she has fleas. Ask them if they use non-pesticidal shampoo because you don't want more chemicals dumped on her. While she is at the groomer you need to do some serious cleaning. Wash everything that can be put in the washing machine. This includes sheets, blankets, dog beds, pillows, towels, area rugs, etc... anything that can fit in the washer. Anything that can't fit in the washer needs to be thoroughly vacuumed (carpets, couches, chairs, beds, etc...) The suction and rotating head of the vacuum will kill the fleas. You need to make sure you clean and wash everything that fleas can hide in. Fleas can be a pain to get rid of. good luck

| Capstar! The natural remedies do not work on flea infestations of that caliber. Give your baby capstar, it kills all fleas within 30 minutes. Then start her on some flea treatment/preventative. It's flea/tick season and they're raging rampant. Best of luck! |

| Natural remedies don't necessarily do what they are said to do. I wouldn't use tea tree oil on my pup... If you are going to give Capstar, you can give something else to stop the lifecycle (like Program). Another adulticide may be able to be used with it too. Check with the vet. Your pup needs flea drug from the vet.

| Thank you all very much .. I guess we'll be calling the Vet in the Morning!! Here's another question how much walking is to much BeBe will walk a mile or two, I pick her up because I feel she needs a break , but after a few minutes she starts to wiggle and she's off to walking she loves walking and being outside. I only walk with her in the early am (6:30/7ish) or evening 7/7:30. I live in the Central Valley and know how hot it can be. So how much is to much?? |

| what kalina said but I would also add, that you may need to repeat this step multiple times. the life stage of a flea is about 21 days. so you may kill all the adults and babies in the first round, you could have new fleas hatching within weeks or days. it sucks. we had a bad infestation about 3 years ago. had to bring all the pets (8 total) to the shop, clean house, yard and car. then we repeated the whole process two more times in 6 weeks. we may not have needed the last one, but I wanted to be sure. then you need to find a preventative, frontline, advantix, or the like. flea collars are only good to drop in your vaccuum. good luck. |
