| Bark, Bark, Bark!!! Hello! Rascals momma here.. Does anyone have any advise on barking so much. Rascal has been for about the last two months, if we are not doing something around the house and go sit in the living room..he starts barking till you cant even hear the t.v. just like he is bored and dont know what to do with his self. He will stand right in front of you and go on and on and on. Even if he has been played with and fed and watered he will still do it. We dont know how to stop it. If you get up and start doing something he will stop tho and just follow you around. He does it when someone pulls up the drive too.. and you cant get him calmed down until they get in BUT if you try to stand at the door and talk to someone on the porch he will stand there and bark non- stop.. try to get out and we dont let him out if not on leash. We live in the middle of a woods and i am terrifeid of him getting lost. Any suggestions?? |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | i use a shaker for my two. Its just a small plastic container with a few pebbles in it, I give it a shake and they hate the sound and shut up lol, it works wonders on mine and cost nothing!

| First I taught Tibbe to bark on command and treated him for barking. And then I began to give him the "quiet" command and a treat when he stopped barking on his own. Soon, he began stopping when I said "quiet" - and then gets a treat and now he's so good, it only takes a look and he stops. It sounds to me like your little guy is barking to get attention as Yorkies are attention Hogs! He may be bored and need some more mommie time or he is just needy. It sometimes can be a handful to keep one of these busy, frisky little guys happy and as engaged as they want to be. Tibbe gets some obedience training and running and chasing treats I throw when he acts bored so that he gets nicely worn out and then he climbs on his YHR Boutique Cloud 9 bed and naps with abandon.

| My yorkie barks a lot too! We've tried the shaker, but she just barks at it. And I've tried squirting her with water, but she just opens her mouth to drink it then barks when we stop! Any other ideas? |

It's not perfect. Lately, he barks relentlessly when we approach our meet up ballpark. Since I'm driving, I can't always give the hand command and reward him. We're working on it. But I was delighted just now when I heard some barking outside. I raced to correct Eddie, and he wasn't barking. The neighbor dogs were barking at him and he was just watching them. He always used to join the bark party before we worked on no bark.

| Suzi is our little miss bark her head off ! We live in an upstairs apt. She can hear when anyone just waslk by on the sidewalk, towards the car, or takes a foot on the stairs. She is a wonderful watchdog, evenso , it really bothers my son's ears, he has autism and can't stand the noise. It does not bother me too much because I look at her as being more protective then as a annoyance. She sometimes really gets going , running to the front window wher eshe can see everybody, and everything, then runs back to the front door. When she is in this mode I do go and check to see whats happening. I have learned that Suzi has different kinds of barking. Sometimes if she is playing with our shih tzu, and then their is this alarming bark . Suzi looks at me to tell me something is wrong... And goes nuts when their is really something going on. My upstairs neighbor who is right next to me, hears Suzi the moment she steps on the first stair, and has even relied on her barking to tell her something is happening at the bottom of our stairs. Because their is a place where certain gang bangers like to hang out, because you can't see them, their are bushes there and the air conditioners, making it a perfect hiding spot. My neighbor has called the police on them , knowing that my Suzi is barking like crazy , and hearing them at very early in the morning . My neihbor has 2 small children to protect , as well as herself, so I think she apreciates it , to have a dog next door with such good instincts.

| When Kacee was a puppy, I started working with her. Inappropriate barking and I would say "no bark" and lay a finger on top of her nose. I just kept this up repeatedly until she learned and now when I say "no bark" she knows what I mean. As a result, she is not a barker. I don't mind barking for a reason. When someone pulls up into the driveway, I consider that appropriate barking, but they should stop after seeing who is there or when you pick them up.
