| due date question I have a female that is due today if you figure 63 days from the first tie. My question is how long past her due date should I wait before visiting the vet and would the fact that the 2nd tie she had with the sire was a week after the first affect her due date? |

| Ill make this short and sweet, and this is only my thoughts on the whole thing. I think she should have visited the vet long ago for xrays and such before you even passed the due date. Not trying to be ugly at all, JMO....

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | I would be watching her temp. And I would call your vet and ask the question about how many days. When my female would breed we did it every other day for three days. She would always have the pups between 63 days and 65 days. I hope it all goes well

| Dogs whelp between 63 to 65 days from OVULATION not from breeding dates or "ties" - this gives you a wider window of due dates if you bred her twice a week apart. If you don't know the exact day of ovulation (from progesterone testing) you really don't have an exact due date and your girl may not be overdue. Since sperm can live inside a female for up to 7 days they are often just there hanging out waiting for the female to ovulate and for the eggs to mature before they penetrate the egg. A vet exam would be a great idea to see how your girl is doing, a vet can examine her and tell you what he things & make sure she is in tip-top shape. Also x-rays are very helpful in telling how many puppies are there. Good luck Teresa Last edited by Teresamag; 04-11-2011 at 10:09 AM. |
