| All of a sudden, terrified Scooter has never been afraid of storms until the other day. We had one of the worst storms I've ever seen. We had 9 tornadoes in the area and winds gusted to 80 mph. Well, Scooter was terrified. He and his sis Bitsy panted and shook all night long. It was terrible to see them so scared. What do you do to comfort your babies or is there anything that can be done. It's supposed to storm again tonight and I would like to help comfort them if possible.

| I've had the same problem with my Cooper. When it thunders he sits in the corner and shakes and nothing I do comforts him. I just bought a Thundershirt and received it today. Here's my review: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...p-anxiety.html Perhaps I'm lucky because I know it doesn't work for every dog, but I'm still sitting here in disbelief.

| Suzi gets afraide of lots of different noises. Especially if the fire alarm goes off, and if the electricity goes out. She hates bad weather too. What I do for both my girls is allow them into the bedroom> They seem to find comfort in their, I believe it is because it's the fartherst place in the apt. She shakes so badly when scared. my son and I try to help her , but we know she's terrified. I have seen over the market meds for soothing them, but I really don't trust giving them anythingthat is not prescribed by a vet. Maybe you could call your vet and ask if they sell anything for calmness?

| The best thing you can do for them is to not show them your fear or allow them to sense it. Laugh when you hear thunder. Make it a game. Did you hear that? Laugh at it. Make them think it's something fun. They pick up on fear.

| That's a great idea. Distraction seems to work very well or even if you can get the dogs to bark and transfer that energy shaking into doing something proactive. But I've heard that no matter what we say to them or do around them during a storm, if we are scared ourselves they pick up on it no matter what. It is funny that during thunderstorms in our house I am the one shaking and Tibbe is playing or sleeping.

| I've read on several thread about the thundershirts. Couldn't you swaddle your baby in a lite blanket? It might work in a pinch. When the smoke detector goes off in the kitchen, our chihuahua runs frantically for the upstairs bedroom. We will bring him back downstairs and tell him it is ok. If the weather is nice outside we distract him by taking him outside,if not we swaddle him for a few minutes. It seems to work for him,you just have to make sure that he doesn't get overheated. |

| Since he was a rescue, we don't know exactly how old he is but the vet thinks around 4. I just ordered thundershirts for both Scooter and his sis Bitsy. I'll let you know how they work.

| I can't wait for the update. I'm crossing my fingers that it helps them. My Thundershirt came quickly so you should get it very soon.
