| not much time left... my mom called me today and told me that mickey went to the groomers at the vet the other day and the groomer told my mom that mickey shouldnt get groomed so often any more because of his age and his declining state that he might die of heart failure at the groomers... which apparently happens at the groomers because they get stressed out so much. my aunt lost their 13 year old maltese after a visit to the groomer's... mickey's 15 now and it really breaks my heart knowing that. I have Coco now and i love her but Mickey's like a brother to me. I'm an only child and never wanted siblings but always wanted a dog. so on my 9th birthday my parents decided to get me a dog. Even though i was the least favourite person (i wanted to cuddle with him and i guess he didnt want to lol), he stood by me and protected me when I got scolded and he boldly even tried to bite my mom (his favourite person in the family) when she yelledl at me. He also knew when i was sad and he'd come and nap next to me because he knew that would cheer me up. I know that Mickey lived a healthy and long life so far and he is still with us and still has time left but i guess not knowing when and how long he has scare me because it is coming to an end. I just wanted to say this because I didn't know who else to talk to about this. Thanks for reading and allowing me to dump this somewhere... in a perfect world, i wish dogs never died...

| I understand what you are saying. I also wished we lived in a perfect world and all the fears and sadness was gone and our dogs, family and friends lived forever. In my faith there will be a place and time.. But for now... try not to be sad. Think of the long happy life I wish you the best.

| Enjoy the time you have - I know it's hard, but don't let your thoughts spoil your time...I think it totally sucks that our pets don't live as long as we do, mother nature goofed up big time on that decision.....

| Enjoy every day you have with him, you could have more than you think Yorkies can live well past 15. How is his health?

| i am normally a optimistic person.... but since i spoke to my mom (only few hrs ago) i cried three times... I am very fortunate that the dog and i are in the same country. Mickey immigrated to Korea when my mom decided to move back. However, due to my work schedule and coco i haven't been able to go see him. Now that coco has all of her shots I plan on spending next weekend with him. Last I saw him was in late Jan and he seemed healthy for his age. But definately much slower in his reaction and everything. He can't eat dry kibbles so we switched him to canned food and my mom said something about he pants or something in the morning (got lost in translation). I will definately get a better idea when I see him this weekend.

| I agree. I remember having to tell my children about our family dog passing away before and it was such a hard talk. I will never forget what my youngest told me that day. He said that since people learn their whole lives and try to be better is why his dog didn't live very long, he didn't have to live as long as we do because he was so much closer to perfect.

| The last days of any life is so difficult. I lost my cat at age 20. I knew she had a wonderful life. I adopted her when she was 2. She wanted for nothing, as I'm sure Mickey doesn't. Just think about all of the wonderful times you have had together. If you can be with him and just sit and give him your love, that's what will make him happy. God Bless you and Mickey!

| Our Frisco just turned 17 years old, he has not gone to the groomers in 6 months due to the weather here in the Northeast, but it's coming close to the time that he has to be groomed. He has never seemed stressed with the groomer we have used for the last 8 years, our worry is that we're not sure he can stand for the entire grooming session.....I'm sure our groomer can accomadate him, the guy is fantastic. We too are watching him slow down, and are watching to make sure he has quality of life....when the time comes, and he needs to be released to Gods hands, he will do so while drenched in my tears. Enjoy the time you have with him....maybe you can groom him yourself ???....or at least keep him neat ???. |

| I'm really sorry. It's hard to lose a pet, very very very very difficult to deal with, but Mickey would want you to be happy for his long and happy life! |

| oh and i wanted to add: You never know how long a pet is going to live, i've had plenty of vets who were wrong about our pug. we were told she was VERY old and probably wouldnt live very long and that was a couple years ago and shes still here. so stay optimistic about it! it'll all turn out okay in the end! |
