Teeth Update Baby Mac (blue born)

Its so hard to believe its been 6 weeks since I reached out for help for our blue born Mac....He is doing awesome!!!! He is going for his 6 weeks shots and check up in the morning!! Im am sooo excited for my vet to meet him as he has never seen a "blue born" before!!!

I am also at a loss as what to do about him and Bevo....I thought as he got older he would have some sort of an impact on Bevo. Bevo has been an "only furbaby" for the past 2 1/2 years. I got Bevo after wanting a 3rd "skin" baby. My Dh thought we would be better off not trying again for a "skin" baby. My 13 yr old son and 15 yr old daughter are true medical miracles. I owe God completely for both of their lives and dont know what I would do without them. When I finally got up the courage to have another child, my hubby could not fathem the idea and instead, bought me my Bevo. I have loved him and treated him as my true blood child.....I have no idea if thats the problem.....

Little Mac is a spitball full of fire,,,,he is a playful, BEAUTIFUL pup....his ears go up and down every 30 minutes!! lol....We have his mother at my home as many of you know. I am so worried that when it comes time to send her home, he will be depressed. He tries so hard to play with his daddy, chasing him, grabbing his tail, etc, but Bevo will have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with him! I have tried to encourage Bevo to play with him, praising him when he gets close, but he just cant be bothered.....

What do I do?? Also...Mac is not eating food well....He has his 4 canine teeth but thats it. We have tried all sorts of puppy foods and he isnt interested. His mommy is drying up as I guess because he is the only pup. We finally ground some of Bevos TOTW food in the coffee grinder, mixed it with water to make a slush and he will lap at that a bit. We have started supplementing with Nutrical just as a precautionary.

I love this little baby (who by the way is 1.8 oz already)..I just want the very best for him....Here are a couple pics of him...and a big THANK YOU TO CATHY for the BOWS!!! They are awesome!!! I tried really hard to get a pic of him and Bevo!! (1st pic).....check out the pic where he wants to know what I put in his hair!! He tried to "scratch" it out! ha ha!! and you may also notice his bell...he runs around the house and thats our tracking system!! And his little eyes are still blue...guess they arent going to change!!

Again, thank you so much for all of you that have been there cheering us on. I am seriously considering getting little Mac a playmate to grow with. I just dont see Bevo changing. I am in the Texas panhandle, so if you know of a breeder, or a rescue I would be greatly interested. My daughter is still longing for a little girl.....(she is the 15 yr old)..She has already bought over a dozen outfits, harnesses and beds for her imaginary baby girl!!!!

I don't have much advice, but I do want to say how adorable that first pic is. You can kinda see it in Bevo's eyes, though, huh? He probably just needs more time. I just have to ask - how the heck are you keeping that big ol' bow on Mac's head?? Too cute!

Aww, he is just too darn cute!! I am glad he is doing so well and continues to thrive.

Just a few things you need to take into consideration...

A puppy should not have any shots before 8 weeks old. If you give him shots tomorrow it will be absolutely pointless and useless.

How much/how often is he nursing and eating food? Many pups are still on milk until 8 weeks old. He isn't quite ready for puppy food yet, at least not whole puppy food. Keep grinding it up and encouraging him to eat.
Be careful with the nutrical. Only give it if you think he absolutely needs it really shouldn't be on any every day basis. Giving nutrical everyday can actually cause a blood sugar attack.

As for Bevo, don't give up on his so easily. As Mac matures they will develop a closer bond. Most adults can't handle all that hyperness that puppies have but once they start calming down they will become close to them. I've gone through this many many times, it just takes time and patience.

Sleeping! Hopefully through the night. He's almost 8 months so he isn't an itty bitty, but he is away from his pack.

Ok...here I go again being the dumb one...I thought he was supposed to have his shots at 6 weeks. My vet told me to bring him in now...in the past, we have raised Pugs and always given shots at 6 weeks...plz do let me know as I wont waste a trip an hour away tomorrow!!

He is trying to nurse, but his poor mommy doesnt have much milk...he acts really hungry as the reason why we are trying different things. We arent giving nutrical often, just if we feel he is acting "droopy". But we do have it on hand just in case.

I really hope you are right as far as Bevo goes. Its not just Mac, He wont have anything to do with any dogs. For exampe...he LOVEs to play fetch...but if Macs Mom is around and I throw a toy, he wont even attempt to go after it b/c she does...If she or Mac is on my lap, he will go to a completely different couch to lay down, and he is ALWAYS on my lap...I just dont know!

New recommendations has shots starting at 8 weeks, then 12 and 16 weeks. When given any earlier than that the immunities they received from their mother's milk will block any vaccinations that are given. Over time the immunities recived from the Dam diminish which is why vaccinations are required.

You can do a search on here, there are several threads on it. They also have a sticky posted in the health and diet section with an overview of vaccines, when to give, what to give, etc.

Hope this helps.

Thank you....I think we will still go for at least a "check up"...I need to have his knees checked for his pet plan policy anyways!!!

Oh so glad Mac is doing so well!!! On Bevo...this is going to sound silly, but from all the Victoria shows I've watched I've noticed that she kind of acts like a 4 year old would when a dog does unwanted behaviors like jumping up to nipping...so could it be possible that Bevo is getting your attention when you are holding the others by going to another couch? Maybe if, just for a little bit, you act like his disinterest doesn't bother you than maybe he'll want to play too. When we first got Bijou, Barley wouldn't play with her, so I would lay on the floor with her and play tug of war, after just a few minutes Barley wanted in on it too. So, maybe something like that will help? Just a thought anyway. Thank you for loving Mac and giving him such an awesome family home!!!!!

I actually do ignore it...I just feel sad for him!! He is just very "stuck up" to other animals...although he loves ALL strangers. I guess he thinks he is human and other animal are varmits!!

Im not really worried about Bevo..He has his routine and loves us. He is himself when its just us. He still goes with me when I have to run to Amarillo (hour away) and sleeps with me. Its Mac who I am worried about. I fear he will be so sad when his mom goes home, although I know we took Bevo from his mom as well....Maybe Im just being retarded....I just wish the two would bond. My hubby and I both work during the day and I thought Bevo would LOVE a little playmate.....hopefully he will change his attitude!!

So glad he's doing well and someone updated you on the shots thing...I noted one breeder here said 9 weeks+ is their recommendation but they also consider the weight and development of the pup...here check this out too:
