| Spaying and everything private Hello, I'm new to YT and I love it so far. I have a 6month old baby named Kaya and our vet is starting to talk to us about spaying her. From the beginning spaying has been the top option, i can't imagine having a liter of darlings running around. I just dont know what it would do to kaya's personality, i dont want her to become depressed, and i do want her to have a little boyfriend, just not babies.. is it ok for my baby to have a boyfriend after being spayed... please help this is my first puppy thank you soo much guys. Kaya and jojo |

| I think for many reasons it is best to spay. After being spayed she would not see another male as a sexual mate they would be more a play mate

| Your baby will still be exactly the same after her spay. It won't change her personality any - You will just be keeping her from getting moody when she is in season because she won't have any hormone shifts after her spay. Your girl can have a boyfriend or a girlfriend as a companion and should love having a friend to keep her company and to play with. Just be sure to spay or neuter any pets you get. Good luck, Teresa |

| Spaying did not change my female's personality in any way. I see no reason your girl can't have any playmate she likes after spaying but as I understand it their relationships with males after spaying are strictly platonic. And you will not have the semi-annual problems associated with heat but all the benefits of less liklihood of cancer, etc.

| I have a girl Rio and a boy Bullet and both are spayed/neutered. Neither of them changed after the surgery. Rio is still very much a diva and Bullet is still very much a crazy (in a good way) boy!

| Sophie Kate is spayed and she has many boyfriends, some may even call her the "town hussy". Did not change her at all, she is still a sweet little ball of trouble

| Princess was spayed 2 weeks ago and I will say her mood/personality has changed drastically!! I'm very serious, since she recovered this puppy has been sooo lovey dovey! She was always affectionate, but I am reallllly loving this! She plays the same with other dogs (she would have a bf, "taz", if she didn't play hard to get) She still has tons of endless energy but now she squeezes in lots more time for cuddling! I was worried about her changing, and she only has for the better. (I prob would too if they took away my hormonal rage, lol!) Good luck, and I think the pro's of better health way out the cons anyways.

| Welcome to YT. Spaying and neutering shows responsibility. You won't see any change at all in her personality.

| Believe it or not dogs can live a perfectly happy and complete life with only humans to love...and given the option a Yorkie will pick a human over anotehr Yorkie any day..of course they enjoy other dogs, but I have never seen a lonely Yorkie when the human was home...it is nice to have a companion if you work. |

| I think spaying doesn't change personality but it will change the behaviors regarding the times she's in heat and the reactions males will have towards her during those times. Many people here have spayed females with a male partner also altered). I have read that having even two females together the best thing to do is have them altered because of the behaviors regarding their heat times etc.
