| Raining, what to do? It's POURING here in CA...my babies are trained to go on a patch. However, Hope isn't...She's learned to be taken outside and she's getting familiar with the procedure. Today, she wouldn't go on the patch and I don't know what to do. It's TOO COLD and WET outside. What do you guys do in situations like these? It's been a tough day for her and I.

| We have 3 screened & covered patios on our house and Lyela will go on one if the weather turns. She also has a doggie door on the master bedroom slider that leads to one of these patios so she can take herself out. Only problem is I find about a dozen toys scattered out there daily. |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | It is just something that they will have to get use to. Mine hate the rain as well but they must go out to potty. I go out with them on occ when the rain is too hard to make them feel at ease. They are in and out in less than a minute. Job well done...

| Callie will only go to the potty outside so when its raining she normally holds it as long as possible but when she has to go she runs outside goes and runs back and if shes really wet I take her shirt off and towel her dry and put a different shirt on her.

YT 2000 Club Member | When the girls were littlier we had to take an umbrella out for them because they took longer. Now that they are older they know to do their business fast when it is raining or cold outside and get back inside.

| I, too, just went out in the cold and pouring rain and waited there calmly and mater-of-factly until the pottying was done. Ugh! Tibbe was scared of the hard rain at first but eventually got the idea I was there, I was cool with it and he would be okay too if he'd just get it over with. Finally, he did!!! Nice towel off and warm hairdryer warms up cold little feet and soaked hair - yours too. Not what I would recommend with a very, very young puppy as it could really scare them as babies but since you did not say, would assume yours aren't really young babies. Tibbe still is reluctant to go out when sheets of water come falling out of the sky but once he is out in it, he is fine with it on his own while I wait just inside the door and goes potty and even runs around and plays all the while I am cajoling him to come back into the house. There is not too much fun about potty training outisde in the rain except the celebration you have with your Yorkie once the job is done!!! |

| Yes, we had three days of rain here but today it hasn't rained so far, but it sure is cloudy, so I'm sure were in for it again. On rainy days, I just keep the girls in the dining/kitchen area with pee pads down. When the rain either lets up for a few minutes or at least down to a fine mist, I take them out. I just don't let them have run of the house on these kinds of days. It works beautifully.

| I know!!! Hasn't it been raining like crazy here!! I've put a stop to my outdoor training until the rain clears up... But he's usually pretty good with the pad (as long as he's near it) Good news though.. Looks like it's clearing up... Hopefully it stays this way |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Morgan is like the mailman, she goes out in the rain, hail, sleet and snow. LOL no matter the weather she goes outside to potty. She's not allowed to potty in the house.

| We had the same situation with Lucy. We bought pads just for that reason...so we wouldn't have to take her out in the rain...but she hasn't figured out how to use it yet. We bought a big umbrella and we put on her coat to take her out in the rain. Just recently, we found doggie raincoats at Dollar Tree and snatched one up. She absolutely does not like her little feet to get wet...such a diva. She has been quite stubborn about going in the rain before but lately she's gotten much quicker about it. I hope the rain stops for you soon!! Jeannie |
