| Why do people want to steal? I had a little expierence when I went tanning today. I usually will take Pnut with me and the owner Bob will sit with him, and watch him for me, The owners are really super nice (older couple) Bob and Kate, they just love Pnut! Anyways I went in about 2 hours ago (still light outside) we were all sitting on the couches, I had Pnut right next to me. All of a sudden I see this man (maybe in his late 20's) walk by, he looked at Pnut as he was walking by, the look he was giving Pnut (to me) was odd, he stared at him till he reach edthe door, then he came in. He admittedly started asking questions about Pnut, then he was going to say "Oh I have a..." and stopped and said is that a ..... and I said Yorkie and he was like yes, I said yes he is a yorkie, and he said oh I have one, a female she is 5lbs. I said oh thats really neat, he then said well she is 3 if you want to buy her, I said 3?? He said Ya I am trying to sell her, me and my gf cant keep her, I said Im sorry, but I am not interested. He then said oh she has all her papers, does he have his papers? I said oh no, I dont have them, he then said well how much did you buy him for?, I said oh I adpoted him, he has some health issues. Then the lady told me that I can go tan, and I gave Pnut to Bob and I went in. Then I was wishing I never left Pnut when that guy was there, but I know Bob would never let anything happen.. When I came out the guy was gone. Bob then told me that The guy asked Bob where he was from, Bob said Long Beach, the guy said what part Bob said the LBPD, (Long Beach Police Dept, Bob is a retired police) He said after I said that the guy left about 5 seconds later.. Then Bob said I honestly thought he was going to try to do something.. Isnt that really odd behavior? Or am I making something bigger than what it was? I then think to myself, Man isnt it so sad that people want to steal other people's dogs? I mean Pnut is my baby, I would die if someone stole him or somthing happen to him. I think it is so sad they see our babies as $$ signs and they do not know what it would do to us, or how it will affect our baby! Oh man, if that guy snatched Pnut and ran, Pnut would be soo scared! I think he would have a heart attack or something, honestly! You just never know these days, I am honestly thinking if I should let Pnut go with me now. Ugh! I had to get that off my chest, I feel better! Last edited by lovespandp; 03-18-2011 at 07:14 PM. Reason: typo |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Sounds like your gut was telling you something about that guy. What a bad feeling. I sure hope he doesn't have that little female . I also can't imagine having my babies stolen. Someone could take all of my stuff...but please not my babies.

| I don't think he has a female I honeslty think he was using that as a way to talk to me or something.. The stuff he was saying about her didnt even add up, if he really had a yorkie he would have known Pnut was one. I am the same way, if you break into my house take everything you want, just not my baby!! |

| i wonder if he brought up the female--his dog with papers that he couldn't name the breed of--just to get an idea of Pnut's worth...maybe thinking you'd give a reward or something if something did happen. it could have ended terribly and thank God it didn't...if you're back in a room and the guy takes the dog from an older couple his chances of getting away are pretty good. i am amazed at what i learn people are capable of. i still can't shake the story i read of the dog that was lost, then immediately found for sale on craigslist...wtheck?!? i think the owner was smart in mentioning the p.d. so maybe that will deter him from attempting something so stupid, but to idiots like this our babies are seen as nothing but a quick buck, they don't think of any emotional bond we'd have to the animal. i'm super glad you trusted your gut and your friend did the same, and it is good for all of us to have a reminder of how sick some people can be.

| That is so scary. I would have flipped out. It is really sad what our world has turned to. Wylie's mom, three years ago my house was broke into and they stole over $40,000 of our stuff. Wiped us out. I had only had Rosie for about 2 months. They did not take her thank God. The cops were surprised that they didn't take her. She was scared to death but not harmed. The officer said I was lucky she was still there. I am so thankful they didn't steal my baby. The stuff being taken was bad but my baby would have been devastating. I don't understand people at all. I think it is terrible when you resort to stealing stuff from others. He was probably seeing dollar signs. Our babies are nothing to people like that.

Ya I know, I just didnt feel like he was telling me the truth at all, or had good intentions. I am so happy that nothing happened as well, I learned a quick lesson that anything could happen, and it could happen faster than you think. I am going to think twice before I leave Pnut there in the front while I go tan, I know Pnut loves to hang out there and I know they love him and would do anything to protect him, but its not worth the risk for me.

Oh my gosh!! Im sorry that happened to you, but I am sooo glad they didn't take Rosie! Ugh that would have been horrible for you! I wonder if they didnt see her, or know she was a yorkie, Yorkie puppies are kinda hard to know what breed it is unless you know of the "yorkie" .

| I'm glad nothing happened to him! I've made up my mind that if anyone who seemed funny, started asking questions about my Bitsy, I'd lie and say that she was a mix. I don't like to lie....but when it comes to my little one

| You were so smart to say he doesn't have papers, he was just adopted, as he has health issues! Personally I think some people are just weirdos...best to be cautious anyways...but the reality is a lot of dogs get stolen. Trusting your gut in any situation is priceless.

I know people are a little wack jobs sometimes too, Its so hard to justify when someone has bad intentions, He was really nice, and talkative, but I was seriously kicking myself in my butt when I was laying in the tanning bed, I thought omg I should have took him in or just dropped him at home. I honestly dont think I will leave him. Esp I wouldn't be able to see what happens, You just never know.

Hopefully he went on his merry way. I wouldn't take any chances. Maybe not leave your baby there for a few days. Just to be on the safe side. Lets just pray that he left the area and will leave you and your baby alone.
