| Hiya to the forum :) Hi just joined today and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kim and me and my family live in VA. I have had doggies before but will be picking up our first ever yorkie baby on or about the 24th. We went to meet the breeder, him and his parents earlier this week and put our deposit down. We are going to call him Riley and I am soooo excited I can barely contain myself. The smallest dog I have ever owned to this point was a cocker spainel girl at about 15 pounds so I know having a yorkie will be a new experience both as a breed and in the size. His parents are 7 pounds for the mom and about 4 pounds for the dad so I guess he will end up between the two in size at full grown. He was born 1-31-2011. If I can figure out how I will attach the pictures we have so far. I can't get over his sweet face! I am looking forward to learning a lot here and making friends with other doggie lovers on the forum. Thanks for having us |

| Precious little baby - bet you cannot wait to get him home and start enjoying life with a Yorkshire Terrier. Pack your patience before you leave to pick him up! Just kidding. But they are terriers and will test you with the best of them. Cannot wait to see more pictures. Welcome to YT!!! |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Hi and welcome to YT. This is a great forum, with lots of info. You might like to read the article in the forum here, about New Yorkie Parents. I did notice however, you mentioned picking him up on the 24th. If you mean 24th of this month that would make him only 52 days old or approximately 7.5wks old and a bit. It truly is best with this small breed that they stay with their Mom's until at least 12 wks old and about 3lbs, before they go home. Once again welcome and happy reading, and dreaming about your new pup

To the OP, a good breeder would keep the puppy until 12 weeks as mentioned. Please discuss this with the breeder. Welcome!

| Hi i tried to respond to this when I got up today but for some reason it still isn't showing so I will try again . Thanks to all for the warm welcome! As for Riley's age, I didn't know about the 12 wks thing until I came to this forum, I have been reading about the breed for a couple weeks now to get prepared but I must have missed it. I appreciate the concern though and I will be sure to discuss it with her asap. |
