| Registration Papers Ok, I just received Hercules' puppy registration application today and my mom says that I am suppose to give him some of his father's name along with his. I don't like his dad's name and I don't want to do that. Does it matter what I name him, or does it mess something up to leave out his father's name? Is there a requirement as to how long his name needs to be on his papers? Does he need a first, middle and last name? I'm so confused.

| You can name your little man what ever your heart desires. Does not have to have any of the fathers nbame in it. The AKC certificate will show the mother and the fathers name on it. No requirement for the length. You can put a first, middle and last if you so desire. Welcome to YT and congratulations on you new addition!! |

| Hi Welcome to YT!! I think they only do that if you plan on breeding/showing. If he is only a pet, name him anything you want...I gave my babies First Middle and our last name just like my skin kids Bella Baby Harley Davidson

| You are limited to 36 character's for your name, but if you are really creative and just NEED more letters, I believe you can pay extra ($10 for a total of 5o characters). Have fun. Picking the name is a lot of fun, but if you are not showing your Yorkie it is just for you and you will probably have a nickname (call name) anyway.

| As all have agreed -- no requirement to use any of the sire's name. In fact, I rarely see that done. Sometimes the kennel name is repeated in some way in all the names. I have used "of Olde Berryhill" at the end of each of my Yorkies' names as that was what I wanted to use for my kennel name. I had a dream of breeding and showing them. I have since decided to at least delay that goal for a few years. I will still use the "of Olde Berryhill" on my Annie's registration though -- just to keep them all similar. In fact, I need to get that sent in! Don't want to forget and go past the one year mark which adds more money to the fee. Thanks for the reminder.
