| Crate/pen training some help plus update Corky our 2 year old and I are having the hardest time. He had complete control of his last home. He was never crate/or pen trained. Almost potty trained. Cannot be left home alone, he will bark forever. I have re trained him not to jump over people when they come through the door. Not to jump/ flip all over the furniture. So I am trying to to this. Re potty, This had to be done anyway because no dog can come in a new home and KNOW where to potty. Pen train- I am doing this so he can stay home alone on the rare time no one will be home ( my husband has end stage lung cancer so this is not a lot) Now when hospice comes over I put him in his area and he barks like crazy. Any input anyone has will be helpful. I have got the gas under control, I am pretty sure it was the wet food, I been giving him dry food with water to eat, and No more gas. We are doing well, He loves the house, and the yard. and my human girl loves her new baby. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Sounds like he may have a little bit of anxiety...is he a rescue dog? Or a puppy who went from the breeder, directly to you?

| You might try giving him a bully stick, everlasting treat ball, or hymalayan chew when you put him in the pen to keep him occupied.

Perhaps the kids were a little rough with him, I am not sure. But I can tell you he does not like to be left alone. Any suggestions on what I should do. | |

YT Addict | I thought that my little girl was going to seriously hurt herself she barked so much when I put her in her crate... Each time she went in she got a treat. No treat coming out. I did 10 minutes in her crate and 10 minutes out, unless she was barking while inside the crate. if she was barking and it passed 10 minutes she stayed in until she was done barking. The first day I sat next to the crate while she was in it. The second day was 50/50 me sitting with her and me going outside but I just made sure to NEVER let her out while she was barking. My dog trainer friend stressed this. She told me that they will think they will get their way if they take a fit. Eventually she stopped barking and I can now put her in her crate and she is fine. I crate/potty trained her. After she went potty where I took her, she got a treat and got to free roam the house for a bit. Then back in the crate she went :P I blocked half of the crate off (she was only 1 pound) so she only had room to turn around and lay down. This way she would hold her potties, instead of potty on one side and lay on the other. It all worked and she was crate/potty trained fully in less than a month.
