My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Bella as Prey! Well, Bella had a very close call yesterday. I was out of town with dd & her girlfriends for an early birthday celebration. DH was @home watching the games. He said Bella was crying to go outside so he let her for a little while. Shortly after, he heard a sound like wings flapping & fluttering in flight. Turned around & saw a huge hawk (which wasn't at all intimidated by his presence a few feet away). Yes, thankfully dh scooped Bella up & went inside, grabbed the camera & this is what was still lurking around in our backyard. Needless to say, even though our backyard is fenced in......no more free run & play for Bella. Pls be safe out there!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Sure is scarey. Hubby and I were just talking about turkey vultures today, as they nest on a lake we like to go Just another reminder to always look up as well as around.

| Thank Goodness we only have seagulls, pigeons, and maybe an occasional crow as far as big birds. Most of our birds are blue jays cardnals, sparrows and starlings. Although I still watch the puppies when they go out even in a closed in back yard |

| I promise you, New York has Hawks and Owls. We had a YT member who saw one snatch up a small dog took it to a tree and ate it right in front of them alive. And this was in NY...Please be careful. |

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Thanks for the well wishes for Bella. No, I don't think there is anything we can do from what I've read. And there are so "many" sad stories about the dangers like this for our babies. This was interesting where someone posted about carrying a noise maker of some sort while walking your babies. A hawk tried to grab my dog. - Raptors Forum - GardenWeb

| Thankfully your hubby wasn't in the bath room or in another part of the house where he wouldn't have heard the flapping of wings. Birds of prey are everywhere, and even owls are out during the day looking for small game.

| That is so scary! Thats a big wake up call for me. I used to let my pup go outside by herself all the time! Not anymore! |

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Bella was not outside by herself. We would never do that. My husband was in the fenced-in backyard with her. This did not intimidate the hawk however.
