| max has a new bark Hi All Anybody have any experience with their yorkies bark changing? Yesterday i let Max outside and i noticed a strange bark, I just thought it was a new dog visiting a neighbor or something, but it turned out it was MY DOG> i let him in and 40 minutes later he was at the window barking at the squirrels with that strange deep low bark. He's acting normal otherwise......i dont think dogs go through puberty Any feedback is greatly appreciated. THANKS!! |

| I don't know if they grow through puberty but it would explain his new found bark. How old is he? |

| My Max has developed a wide range of notes and barking types in his 2+ years. Dogs have different barks for different things. For instance, I have read that howling is a dog's way of sending long distance messages. Makes sense to me because Max howls (happily) after his walk when I take his brother out walking.

| Harley just found his inner bark. He has explored a large range of noises in our agility class, it got to a point the other day that my coach moved us to try and calm him down.

| I could just imagine the look on your face when you realized it was Max. Don't you love how they never seize to amaze and surprise us. I wouldn't mind if my Roxy learned a lower bark her's is so high pitched it jolts me every time she starts out of nowhere. |

| Funny stuff!! Maximus is 1 1/2 years old....yes it was truly a moment to remember when I realized that baratone bark was his. I am currently waiting to see if he still has the same alto bark, but he has been so quiet today thus far. How do I get him to bark??? |

| Both of mine have different barks, depending on the situation. It can really high pitched and shrill to real low and then there is the yappy bark that Willow has. LOL

| After my son was over with his American Bulldog, Tibbe found a new bark and a new attitude. Danny and I were so watchful of the two of them that they barely got to touch as there is such a size difference but just being in the room and watching Tex out in the backyard through the window gave Tibbe a burst of testosterone or something as he really really acted very different from that time forward. That next day, he actually barked out the neighbor's dog which had been barking at him and the other dog backed off from the fence and things have been very different with Tibbe since Tex' visit. I think Tibbe actually saw what is was like to be the alpha dog(which Tex definitely is around all but Tibbe) and he liked it! And his barking has been was more foreceful since that first visit from Tex. Ha! |
