| Someone trying to sell mixed Yorkies as AKC Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've been here. I was looking around at the pets tonight on ebay classifieds and saw that someone is trying to say that they have AKC registered Yorkies (silky) that are mixed with Australian Terrier. Even in the ad, they state that the pup looks like a full breed yorkie. How can they advertise it as AKC? They are totally misleading people and attempting to defraud someone. I flagged the ads. Did I do the right thing? | If you flagged the ad for being misleading (AKC/mixed) then that was probably ok to do, but to flag it for someone trying to sell a dog is wrong - despite Craiglist rules not to. Remember, they may need to sell the dog and if they can't they may end up dumping it off. You do not know all the facts about this particular case. It's their ad, not yours. I've heard too many times of well meaning people flagging people's ads and end up hurting people/animals, etc in the process. Let craiglist run its program, it's their business to monitor not an ad reader's. I just think more people should tend their own garden rather than concern themselves with what others are growing. I also think if someone has to ask whether or not they did the right thing...they probably didn't. It's not that complicated.

| Hello...this ad on Ebay is misleading. How can you have a mix yorkie and it be AKC registered? (did I just ask that?) They clearly state that it is mixed and asking $720.00 for it. I might call them tomorrow to inquire about the baby. |

| I believe the author of this add, on eBay not craigs, means that the parents are both AKC registered, but they list the pups as AKC which is misleading ad does warrent flagging for fraud. Thus you did the right things they could very well be attempting to defraud people. They sell multiple pups...people don't advertise to ship pups on craigs list (that I know of at least in most cases) there you meet the person and pick the pup up so you see what's going on to a certain degree at least, which is the least concerning? At least on craigslist ads are often of someone re-homing a dog or offering an accidental litter, even a BYB who cares enough to meet the adopter in many cases-the same could be said about eBay but ye not so much the vast majority of pups listed on eBay classifieds are in fact pup mill pups, yes eBay classifieds are an option to find something locally but often the ads offer to ship as soon as payment is received...not even an adoption application etc-what does that tell people..."don't even meet us we are using this not as a local directory but a national exposure listing to distance ourselves from the customer and cut out the broker costs...(IMO based on research).

As for flagging things on Craigslist, they have their rules in place for a reason. It's not as if they have a monitor reading every post to make sure that ads are complying. It's up to the community to make sure that the rules are being followed and to bring those that aren't to the attention of the powers that be. To the OP, yes, you did the right thing in flagging a fraudulent add. You might also want to forward it on to the AKC for their review.

| Thank you everyone. I hadn't been online for a few days to check in. I don't normally flag ads, but even in the pictures you could tell they were not full bred yorkies. I knew the AKC for the pups had to be fraudulent.

| This does not surprise me at all. Yorkie's are known to be an expensive breed. And people will try to make money as much as they can even though it is a lie.
