| Worried about Charlie As I have posted in the past Charlie does have pancreatitis, its been almost a year since our big incident when we were diagnosed ($3000) and I have noticed the last 2 days that he is not eating his chicken. he always has it in the morning and then again when I come home. but the last 2 days when I get home the chicken from the morning is still there. I notice he is drinking a bit more than usual. He is going to the bathroom normally and he is eating an occasional treat. Tonight when I came home his face did not look just right, you know how they can make expressions and you just know, well when I went to hug him i noticed he was shaking. I looked and the chicken was still there so I got out some chicken lunch meat, he ate some of that and I put his shirt on him in case he was just chilly. He did stop shaking but he just doesnt seem like himself. Now I put new chicken out each time I dont make him eat the dried up chicken I throw it out. I gave him a pepcid ac and half of a reglan as the vet instructed but if he doesnt eat tomorrow i am going to take him in. Could he be tired of chicken and if so what would I feed him then? He is not one to try new things and the vet doesnt want him to go more than 24 hrs without eating due to his system. I just cant imagine going through what I did last year it was so scarey. Please say some prayers for Charlie.

| I'll definitely say prayers for Charlie. Would be be allowed to eat some turkey? How about some baby cereal? I hope he is OK. Sending good thoughts. |

| Poor Charlie! Is plain chicken the only thing you are feeding? Unfortunately, that is not adequate nutrition for a dog. He is missing other essential nutrients.

| My Molly had Chronic Pancreatitis and I was always able to tell if she was about to slip. She would do the same thing Charlie was doing, I got into the Vet pronto had blood work done and got her started on Sub Q fluids. I always had Pepcid and Carafate on hand to give when I noticed signs. Prayers for Charlie.

| The vet only wants Charlie to eat the boiled chicken and then he has a low allergen food that he doesnt really like its crunchy and it gets mixed in but it always gets left in the bowl. He does like fruit and some veggies but he is not interested in those either right now. I think my biggest concern is the drinking, it is so reminiscent of last year when he got so dehydrated. He just went to his bowl and looked at it, the crunchy food was there and he walked away so I got out the boiled chicken and he didnt want that either. I dont want to force food on him as I know that can make the pancreatitis act up more. Im gonna make an appt in the morning I cant let it get as bad as it was last yr he lost 6 pounds he was just bones with a thin layer of skin over them, that was before we knew what was wrong and before we found the vet that knew what to do. its gonna be a long night.

| Bailey Blue has chronic pancreatitis and IBD. I have consulted with Susan at Holistic Pet Care Holistic Veterinarian Pet Nutritionist there are a number of other yt members on here that use her too. I've almost lost Bailey 3 times from this. Charlie will be in my prayers.

| I'm so sorry he isn't himself. Yes. He could be tired of chicken. Ask your vet if you could switch around to turkey, so that he could have some variety. Does he like veggies? Carrots, green beans, etc? How about baked sweet potato? That would give him a bit of variety. He could be having an attack of pancreatitis. From what I've read, it just pops up from time to time and if the vet prescribes antibiotics, then it will help them fight it off. Does he take any pancreatic enzyme supplement? If not, perhaps your vet might prescribe it. Let us know how Charlie is tomorrow.

| Well, I just saw that he does like some veggies, but maybe he'd like them better in chicken broth?

| Sending prayers for Charlie. My mix has chronic pancreatitis and the vet has us giving her 1/2 pepcid every morning and it has helped a lot. She still has times though, and it is indeed scary. My male cavalier had acute pancreatitis last summer and THAT was really scary (and expensive) as well. I wish they could talk, and tell us what they're feeling! Enjoy snuggling with Charlie.

| Well charlie ate two small pieces of treat and then threw up He has to go to the Dr tomorrow. He seems ok now but it came up almost in the same form as it went down so no digestion. he is at least active, if i get him in tomorrow maybe we can get it taken care of before to much damage is done.
