| Hello Everyone, New Yorkie mom here... I'm so glad I found this site, googling to find help with my new addition to the family...Teddie, an almost 12 weeks old Yorkie male. So...HELLO! My name is Shannon and I just got "Teddie" this week. Had him checked out at a lovely vet and she says he is perfect, and I think so too. So far so good on everything for him except his eating. Bought Royal Canin puppy for him to eat and he pretty much puts his nose up at it. Tried adding a wee bit of wet food to it and he snorts at it. So I have a picky eater it seems. Any ideas are so welcome... Otherwise Teddie is good, a wee bit too much into gnawing...but I give him toys to chew and he seems to get distracted. I've only had him a short while but he is already priceless to me. I own three other dogs as well that are all ok with him. A black lab (10 yo), a german shepherd mix (6 yo), and pomeranian (4 yo). They all mother/father him and put up with his puppy ways w/o incident. I have Teddie learning his name and learning to come when called already, so I am branching out into potty training. He has a pattern so I am following it closely. Anyhow, thought I'd give some info so everyone knew a wee bit about me and Teddie from the get-go. I will be reading, learning, and open to any and all suggestions from all of you. Shannon

| Welcome! So happy you found us. You're going to love it here. He may not be a picky eater. He just may not like RC. I don't think it's probably a very tasty food. Mine has loved Natural Balance and hasn't gotten tired of it. They all need to find the one that they like. They all have different tastes for food. What one likes, another may hate. Perhaps try some samples. If you got it at some of the pet supply stores there, many will give you a refund if you return the bag with the receipt. Good luck in your search!

| We got Nicco at 12 weeks and I thought he was a picky eater, too. He didn't eat much for several days and then only when we hand fed him his kibble. But once he settled in things improved. You are just down the road from me in SA, which we love to visit. Welcome to Yorkie Talk!

I've had to go to feeding them all separately or else he tries to sneak some cardboard chunks from his brothers and sister. They don't mind, but he shouldn't get used to that.

| I feed my adult Basset Hound Blue Buffalo, so that's what I also give my Yorkie pup, although I give him the puppy formula. I think it's a good food. My pup was also not the best eater when we first got him. He wouldn't eat his own food, but he would sure help his older brother eat his! Once he settled in he began to eat just fine. I keep the two dogs separated so the puppy will eat his own food. I did mix wet and dry when I first got my Yorkie, but after awhile I phased out the wet and now he eats the dry just fine. |

| Welcome to YT! You found a wonderful forum here! I love San Antonio! My sister and her family used to live there but moved to Tampa, FL. Her husband is in the Air Force. Congratulations on your new pup. I am glad your other dogs are patient with him. When Blue came to live with me, he did not eat too much but as soon as he settled in, he ate pretty good. Blue Buffalo and Orijens are great. There are some other good dog food companies I cannot remember what. Have fun reading and learning!

| Welcome to YT. I would try different foods till you find one that he likes. If he is eating what your other dogs eat then try that brand in a puppy version. You may also try feeding him his food out of one of their bowls that has their scent on it. Good luck!!! |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk! So glad you and Teddi found YT. I have the opposite problem with Calleigh. She will eat anything and everything. I have her on prescription OM [overweight management]. She has about 1/2 lb. exta right now. We both need to get out and take our daily walks. It's been a very long winter here. Once/IF the warm weather ever comes, we will be walking again every day. I hope you will find a food that Teddi will love.

| Hello Shannon and Teddie. I have a picky eater too. Just to let you know, Petsmart will take food back even if it is open. I am so glad I found this out. They will give you a full refund. I have taking many foods back while we were trying stuff out. |

| Jed eats Royal Canin just fine. When we first brought him home though he WOULD NOT eat out of his bowl! Could put it on the ground and he would eat just fine just not out of the bowl. Until I boiled some chicken and cut it up, put it in the bowl...since then...no problem eating out of the bowl. |
