Pet Plan Insurance My first Claim Unfortunately I am filing my first claim with Pet Plan insurance for the vet bills resulting from Tinks illness. Since there are frequent posts asking for reccomendations on different insurance plans I thought I would post my experiences here for eveyones benefit. I purchased this policy 1 week after bringing Tink home. I believe she was 14 weeks old at the time. I have the silver plan with a $200 per incident deductable with no co-pay, and a $12,000 a year limit. My premium is $340 a year. My vet faxed over Tinks entire medical history on Thursday 2/24/11 after her vet visit. My vet filled out the claim form and I faxed it and the paid invoice for $449 dollars on Friday 2/25/11, 24 hours after her visit. I filled out a seperate claim form for today's vist and the receptionist at the vets office offered to fax it for me as I would have had to wait until monday to do this at work. Todays bill came to $175.75. So I have $624.75 in vet bills for this illness and based on my plans terms I should expect to be rembursed for $424.75. I just logged on to Pet Plans site to check the progress on my claims and so far there is no record of them. It is probably a little too soon, but If I don't see my claim on the website or hear from them by Tuesday I will give them a call. I am really hoping for an easy process as I have done everything I should have and Tink has been covered from the beginning with no prior conditions. I will update this thread as I go along through this process.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Are you hooked up with them via email, btw? I have PetPlan...and usually they'll email me within about 4 days after they receive my claim, just to let me know they received it. Then I receive an email saying it was processed. Then I get a letter by mail explaining what the reimbursement is, and they included the check. The whole process usually takes about 3 weeks or so. I've filed about 5-6 claims.

That's been my experience too. I have no complaints to share. I actually think I've received my reimbursements in about 2 weeks.

I've had about the same experience. No complaints. I think I've filed 4 claims and one was pre-authorized. When Lily last had surgery, I had the reimbursement check before she went for her 10 day follow-up.

Thanks everyone for posting your experiences. I fully expect mine to be the same. I thought it would be good information for new owners to share the process I am going through with Pet Plan. I think having insurance or a savings account for medical emergencies is essential. The last thing I want to be worried about when my dog is sick is how I am going to cover the costs.

I just wanted to update everyone and let them know that I received my check from Pet Plan yesterday. The delay was due to my vet not faxing the entire medical records and once that was fixed my claim was paid. I am very happy with how the process went and I am glad I decided to purchase insurance for Tinkerbell. I can definitely give Pet Plan 5 stars for service as I have not had any problems with them.

I have Pet Plan, and I was pleased w/the claim I made...I have the Bronze and it's $200 deductible and I pay 10% of the balance...They only pay things, strickly related to the illness/injury...I went ahead and had Apple's heartworm test done (it was due in March), bought RX/id food, and a DAP diffuser...They didn't pay for any of these things, but I didn't really expect them too (except maybe a percentage of the food)...All in all I was pleased, and in fact, just added my Chorkie, Cha Cha...Oh, and get this, because Cha Cha is a mixed breed, she was much less expensive to cover, than Apple & Buzz...Also, you get a discount, w/adding additional pups...
