| Hello Everyone......First time Actually my second try since first post didn't take so here I go again. We have two Yorkies... Brody, who is an amazing 3yr old male who can leap tall buildings in a single bound and weighs in at a svelt 9lbs. Our second new addition is Carly who is now in her 13th week and is everything you would expect from a 2lb bundle of absolute joy. After 30yrs of dog companionship ( all of which were Cocker Spaniels ) we decided to go small so when we got Brody as a pup at 12 weeks it was a whole new experience, but a great one. And now with Carly we hope to double the pleasure....BUT.... here is our situation. Brody will have nothing to do with his new sibling. From the time we got home with her he runs from her as if he is terrified, yet with other dogs that come to visit he is more than happy to see them and romp around the house. In the past week he has gotten a little better and will at least stay in the same room with her but will not get close. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Second, and most disconcerting was the discovery from our vet that Carly has an open Fontella and Bilateral Hernias. The breeder offered to take her back (she was very upset as well ) and refund the money, but after we had her that first weekend this is not an option for us as we will not abandon her since we adore her loving personality and the money is irrelavent. The vet says the Hernias can be fixed when Carly gets spayed in May and the breeder has said she will pay the cost. Has anyone had experience with these? Other than this setback, she is progressing perfectly in every other way. We have nursed all our dogs through various sicknesses and cancer and we will not give up on Carly....... she is ours. Any and all insights welcome...... thanx for listening, |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Hi and Welcome to YT. Congrats on your new baby Carly! Hope to see pics of Brody and Carly. Jersey Boy was 1 1/2 when we brought Brielle home. It took him some time to get use to her. We tried our best to keep him as top dog with attention, treats etc. Now the 2 of them are true brother and sister, they tease each other, tattle on each other, steal toys and treats but then they will snuggle together. Just give it some time and Brody will come around. BTW Brody and Carly sound just like Jersey and Brielle, around the same size and jersey has energy like Brody.lol

| Maybe you could shampoo Carly in the same shampoo you use on Brody. Sometimes a different kind of smell on a new pup may be a bit scary. Either way, they will eventually become best buds!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome and congratulations on your new addition. I think given a little time they will be best friends. I have 4 and they all adjusted to a new one coming in pretty quickly. One day you will look over and see them snuggled up and your heart will melt. One of mine has an open fontella and hers got smaller by the time she was a year but never closed completely. She has been fine. She and one of my others rough house all the time and it hasn't been a problem. I do keep her top knot and bow over it to give a little protection. My vet said as long as she didn't get a direct blow to the spot she should be fine.

| WELCOME and Congrats on you new little baby girl! She is a lucky girl to now have such a loving family. I can't help with the help issues, but hopefully others will be on to give you some insight. Can't wait to see pictures of them both.

| Welcome to YT, I have 4 yorkies and none of them like the new puppy when I brought them home, but they have all adjusted except for little arguing sometimes . Just make sure the new puppy doesn't get too much more attention than Brody. She is very lucky to have someone to love her and want to take care of her despite her health issues.

YT 2000 Club Member | I think Prissy actually "Rolled" her eyes when we brought Jasmine home. Prissy was our spoiled brat only fur baby....then we got Jasmine. Well if looks could have killed I think Jasmine would have died those first few weeks from how Prissy kept looking at her. That was two years ago and they get along great now, occasionally Prissy still rolls her eyes as if to say "WHY"...but other than that they are fine. Give it time and good luck.
