| when do baby teeth fall out? Maybe I should have posted this in the health section, but i'm curious to know when your babies' teeth started falling out/adult teeth growing in.......I've had theo since he was 11 weeks old and he should be getting fixed soon based on how many months he supposedly is (he's a little over 5 months according to the breeder/papers) but the vet doesn't want to do it until some of his adult teeth start growing in (so they can pull any spare loose ones when he is under to get fixed) and he has lost NO teeth. I'm wondering (well, the vet wondered first) if the breeder lied to me about his age in order to sell him for a higher price, of course the smaller they are, often the more expensive. I adore him no matter what but when you're dealing with health stuff it's not so cool to wonder if you know how many weeks old he actually is......... | I think they start losing teeth around 5 or 6 months and then they should have all of the adult teeth in by 8 months. Some yorkies don't lose their baby teeth but there are homeopathic remedies to help this occur naturally or you can give him hard things to chew on and play lots of tugowar to get them to come out too. I know you don't want to put him under anesthesia more than once but my vet wouldn't pull my daughter's dogs teeth during his neuter surgery because he had so many and he would have to be under for too long. I have also heard of vets pulling the "wrong" teeth so I would recommend second opinions (when it is time) from both a homeopathic vet and a dental specialist as to what they recommend before you make the decision as to what is best for your little guy. Good luck. |

| Sophie is 5 months old and she started losing her teeth at 4 months. When the top teeth came in she had her baby teeth and permanant teeth at the same time. But the baby teeth did fall out. I thought it was funny how fast the new teeth would come in. Sophie has only lost the small teeth in front so I still have a ways to go.

| Thanks guys! I assumed he must be on track since when i got him, he had had all his shots up to 12 weeks, which would seem not likely if he was younger than he is.........other dogs may lose them earlier than yorkies and maybe she just doesn't know. thanks for the advice, i'll have have him fixed maybe in another month and deal with the teeth later if we need to. he LOVES to chew---esp. greenies!!! |

| They start falling out from 4-6 months. My vet removed 4 of Chachis when he was neutered at 7 months and 4 of Jewels when she was spayed at 6 months.

| I had my 2 girls baby teeth removed when they got spayed at 7 months of age because they hadn't fallen out & they did chew on hard things and my male had to have his removed under anesthesia at 8 months because I had him neutered at 6 months of age because I didn't want him to start lifting his leg. So none of mine fell out on their own. |
