Default help... I'm trying to find a puppy with no luck

I've been looking for a puppy for a bit in NC, many, many times I find an add on line it turns out to be some sort of puppy scam. They all ask the same questions and are odd about just moving and needing a loving home for the puppies, they ask what religion you are or they simply say they are Christians.. to imply they are trustworthy. They go on to say that the puppy will only cost you a transportation fee or shipping cost. All of there adds say they are somewhat local but when they email you back they all have moved just recently. Such a bogus thing.
Who do you report puppy scams to?
Does anyone know of a breeder in NC or SC?
How long does it take to find a Yorkie puppy?
Any help anyone can provide would be so appreciated.
Warm regards,
Rose

Have you tried a Rescue? There are lots of great puppies out there in need of a forever home, I wish I had more information on NC Rescues but you can get in touch with United Yorkie Rescue United Yorkie Rescue - A 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Yorkshire Terrier Rescue Organization or http://www.petfinder.com/index.html to search for Yorkies in your area. Hope this helps

Hi Rose,

I looked for my male for months and months. Then one day I found him. I got mine from a breeder over the internet and YES you do have to pay for shipping!!! Shipping can run anywhere from 200-300.

If you find a breeder online, just give a shout out on yorkie talk, and people will give their opinions.

Good luck in finding your baby!!!!

Thanks for the advise and contact information... I have tried local rescues and the Yorkies I've seen at the rescue all seem to have health or behavioral issues or just be so scared. I know that can happen with any breed, but I really don't want a special needs dog. I don't mind a young adult but would so prefer a puppy to have. Online I have again and again found adds for Yorkies and then found them to be some sort of puppy scam. it's been very upsetting. What should a Yorkie cost? Prices seem to vary a lot, from a few hundred to thousands.
Warm Regards,
Rose

Default How about GA

There is a good breeder in the North metro Atlanta area. Tyava Yorkies and surely that wouldn't be too long a trip for a sweet Yorkie pup.
Here is the link.
TyAva Yorkies

That's where I got by 2.

Tons of Yorkie puppy scammer online...you just can't trust that you will get the puppy you want or even get a puppy at all by buying online...you can find good/reputable breeders online but you must go and meet this breeder at her/his home in person to know you are getting a healthy puppy and the puppy you want...after all that puppy will be a family member for 15 to 20 years so its worth taking your time, getting to know a breeder first before buying from them.

A reputable breeder will never sell a puppy before 12 weeks of age either and run as fast as you can if they say they sell teacups...there is no such thing a yorkie is a yorkie small or large....They can range in price from $800.00 to $1500.00 and thats here in Florida...but I'm sure they are about the same anywhere.

You might look up local Yorkshire Terrier-attended dog shows, go to the website for the show and look for the breeders showing Yorkies there. If they are local, you can call and visit them and ask about any non-show quality dogs they may have available or get a referral from them to a good breeder they know of that doesn't breed show dogs. Most show breeders know who has good, healthy pet quality dogs of their breed available. Word of mouth is the way I found the dog breeder I got Tibbe from. I got my second Yorkie, Jilly, from her and called her when I was ready for my third Yorkie, 5 years after losing little Jilly. Barbara, the breeder, had him and some other Yorkies from another breeder that could not place her dogs and was having personal problems. The dog breeder I got Tibbe from said that the dogs from that other breeder were a mess when she got them and as far as she knew, they had all been crated all their lives and that she thought the kennels weren't cooled or heated - just outside with maybe some cover. Tibbe is pure pet quality and was 9 mos. old when I got him, has poor shoulder joint alignment and knew nothing of family life, grass, wind, pavement, how to go up or down steps, human contact or how to cuddle. He was wild as a hare and spent a great deal of time looking up at the ceiling or sky, of all things! When I first tried to clip his toenails he fought me like a Tiger cub. He spent considerable time standing with a foot in his own water bowl. He was fearful of TV, doorbells, running water, opening the refrigerator door and most other things. I honestly called an uptown dog trainer to see if he could see a dog and tell if it were brain-damaged or not, thinking Tibbe was mentally impaired due to his early hardships. Slowly, issue by issue Tibbe learned how to live like a dog with a human and turned out to be intuitive, smart as a whip, knows about 300 plus words that I know of, LOVES training, learns new tricks easily, is fun-loving, a great guard dog, well-behaved and FULL of life itself. Plus, he's the cutest thing in the world. So, one doesn't have to get a dog from the best breeder in the world to end up with a great canine companion but it sure helps to start out with a breeder with a reputation for breeding healthy animals in a clearn, humane facility. Anything worth doing is worth doing well so keep doing your homework, be persistent, visit breeders or the person you are doing to buy from if possible and I hope that you wind up with as great a Yorkie as we all here at YT have! When you get your baby, post, post, post. We all want to hear all about it!

Marsha of miracleyorkies.com is very nice and is in NC. She has clean facilities and has a pups available. She is a hobby breeder but ultimately reputable. Check her out.

I got my Troy from a different breeder in Georgia, but when that breeder was ill, Marsha helped with adopting a few of her dogs and finding them homes. One of the dogs she found a home for was my yorkies brother. So she linked us up for a mini reunion. Very nice lady.

Also there are always ads in the Greenville News for puppies. One has 4 males for $400 ea.

Another ad has puppies $600 and up - Lindsay.

Petfinder has a group A Paw in need out of Georgia that has yorkie puppies all of the time.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
A Paw In Need is where my mom got her two rescues from. It's a very small organization, but they do a lot of puppy mill rescues. She's located in Gainesville, GA. If I go the rescue route again, she's some one I would definitely consider.

Here are the pups she has right now.

PLEASE, read this post before you follow some of the advice given to you on this thread. It has wonderful advice on finding a good, reputable breeder. You want to make sure you bring home a healthy well-adjusted puppy, while also not supporting puppy mills or Back-Yard-Breeders (many of whom post in local newspaper ads, or who pose as Rescues while actually selling their own 'product' ). Good luck in your search! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...uy-yorkie.html
