| Biting = [ Autumn won't stop biting! She didn't do this before, so I'm worrying she won't stop the habit. She's a puppy still, but I worry that she won't end this. You can go to pet her sometimes and she'll just go to bite you. I wish she would stop. A little bit ago she got a hold of my finger and wouldn't let go. I had to pull my finger to get it from her. She also has selective hearing... BAD. Especially when she gets wired up. She WILL NOT answer to no and WILL NOT answer to her name. I'm giving up on her soon = [ |

| She's still a puppy I gather....Take her to a training class. Buy training books. She needs proper training.

| How old is Autumm? I know is hard, but try to be patience. When she bites tell her "NO", not screaming but with a stern voice. Also give her something to chew on and ignore her. Maybe you need the help of a behaviorist. Good luck. |

| The biting behavior is a puppy stage - some would say to never let them bite your hands, and that is probably good advice. Say "no" and give them something else to chew on as the poster above said. I didn't do that with Rowdy, and he did stop biting, maybe about 5 months old or so. He is 9 months old now and never bites at all. When Rowdy would start running around like a crazy dog, I'd take him for a walk and tire him out. As they say, a tired puppy is a good puppy. A good walk worked everytime. Energy frenzies are a puppy stage also, it does get lots better, but lots of exercise in the form of walks with you - is always a good solution to many behavior problems.

| How old is she teething? Second when she bites a calm ahah or gentle no along with a replacement toy for her to chew on. Especially when she gets wired up. She WILL NOT answer to no and WILL NOT answer to her name. I'm giving up on her soon = [ She learned to tune you out stop using her name in general conversation and use it only when you want her to look at you and treat her when she does. I get her into a gentle training class with other small dogs. joy |

| No Worries Rexi used to bite like crazy. He now only bites when he is hungry and inhibits the pressure of his bites. When he was younger he bit my ear and it bled so I shouted NOOO! very loud (felt bad afterwards). I swear he went under the bed and didn't respond for 1 hour. Now he knows exaclty how hard to bite in different areas with my hand, he is merciless but my nose and ears he opens his jaw and applies no pressure. Believe me these dogs are experts at reading our expressions just let your dog know what hurts and what doesn't. Instead of shouting no like I did just yelp like a puppy immediately after being bitten hard turn around and pay no attention for 10-20 seconds. When he stops, immediately tell him what a good boy he is. Really works! http://rexibaby.com Rexi's site http://darish.com My web site |
