| What commands do your furbutts obey? Here's how Toby rates when it comes to obeying commands: Come - rarely Sit - Most of the time as long as a treat is involved Stay - 70% of the time No bark - 50% of the time No jump - 70% of the time Wait - 80% of the time Quiet - 20% of the time Go lay down - 100% of the time

| Gracie pretty much knows all the tricks in the book, but she is the bossy/barky one...the one thing she will always respond to is: "Come get pretty" --- she loves to be combed and fussed over...so if she's barking at the neighborhood cat(s) that come into our yard (which she absolutely HATES)...the only thing that will make her stop barking at them is the thought of getting "pretty".

| Sakura knows Sit Come Stay and Stop but usually chooses to ignore me. Unless I have a treat. But treats don't work if we are at work and she is down on the floor playing with the big dogs. Then I have to chase her all around the shop. She has a little trick routine we do almost every morning which has Sit Stay Stand Turn left Turn right and Stand and turn. Her newest thing is (and I don't know how she learned it) is when I say What she barks. I'm waiting for her to learn No no no don't eat the stick. But I'm not holding my breath for that one. |

| Jackson has about 60 tricks that he obeys, I can't really list them out, they range from getting me a tissue, to limping, and all those fun tricks But the important ones, like stay and come.... lately his recall has been about 98%, we have been working hard on coming when called for a year now and so far it's been working really well. He can do stay for about a minute before he starts to want to crack but I could probably get him to do a 3 minute stay. If I snap my fingers and say 'sit' he KNOWS he must stay put where he is at.

| NONE!!! Especially since yesterday, "DO NOT LEAVE THE RANCH!" Come-yes, she will come when she is good a ready to Sit-never, she has too many other things to do! Lay-"OK, I was tired anyway" leave it alone-"Oh come on mommy, I want to play with it" WANNA TREAT? Then she will do all of the above all by herself...I am the one who got trained here. |

| Sit Stay (unless we are on the boat at the dock) Shake - both paws Get in the truck and get in your own seat Drop it No barking Time to comb our hair Get back on the boat (only after I am on board) Leave the bait alone! The bird doesn't want to play ( Please don't tease the parrot!) - only if she's not too wound up Come Quit tackling the cat! (well, she ignores this one completely) Fetch Working on down and roll over |

| Okay I can't take it you cracked me! I listed the "tricks" because they all "come" usually by bribing though, treats, kissy sounds, a toy, but we have a serious recall issue here...well Elvis never leaves my side as I've noted in other forums I can't take a trip to the bathroom without him accompanying me...Princess will recall as long as Scoober isn't with her. Despite Scoobers being the most well 'trained'...recall is either a fun game of chase I no longer play with him, or ye just not so much....we've been working on it for like 2 years...and we're at 60% in the yard on a good day...he'll probably never be able to go leash-less simply because of this. I swear you can see it he catches a scent and before he even thinks he's gone after it...once it was 6 blocks away at the neighbors who have chicken free roaming in their back yard...me chasing with the broken Flexi all the way...he now has a light chain leash double secured. | Funny post, I love the estimated % of completion metric, by command! My first Yorkie who was a genius dog, similar to Britster's in her post above. He knew dozens of commands and would perform to near perfection every time. He would learn new tricks in no time with a minimum of repetition. Our current pack is not as swift in the obedience department. They only know the basics: Sit ~95% Stay ~20% with no treat in hand, ~90% with visible treat Lie down ~50% with no treat after repeated commands, but much higher with treat in hand Look out the window - ~100% (they know there is a payoff in this one) Shake - ~75%, but they often do a half ass job at it. It’s more like they stick out a paw, but don't get the shaking part. Twirl ~80% with a treat. The funny thing is that our female Ms Daisy knows many words, but they both stink at commands. When we talk, we need to use code words for terms such as: Cat, Squirrel, Walk, Treat… They have figured those out. Mr J Gatsby even taught himself a trick, he goes to get us, and jumps up and down like a Jack Russel to let us know he defecated on the pee pad, because he knows that showing us will lead to a treat. The one trick I wish I could teach them the most? SHUT UP !! |
