Doesn't it irritate you when people think your the one thats weird because you love your babies. I think maybe people need to open there hearts. Today I was with some coworkers and I seen a dog that was walking down the street that had apparently been hit by a car. Dragging his back end etc. I immediately called the humane society to get help and the people I was with actually had the nerve to tell me that I was in the wrong because" its just a dog and not everyone is a weird as I am" I said it doesn't matter dog or not it needed help. What is wrong with people? I have to say my heart hurt. I found out later they had to put the dog to sleep ,injured to bad. It was very sad to hear but if you seen what I saw you would know it was for the best. Sorry for venting.

I wouldn't even question someone for helping a hurt animal...

But I would worry about someone that DIDN'T try to help!!! Poor baby out in the street hurt and so scared. If you hadn't have made the call no telling what would have happened. The poor thing could have suffered so much more than it already did.

My grandpa used to say to keep an eye on anyone your dog doesn't like or that doesn't like your dog...

Keep an eye on those coworkers.

You did the right thing and I would have done the exact same thing...I too am amazed how some people treat me weird because I love my girls to death and would do anything for them, they are "just" dogs, they have a heart and soul and feelings as well and deserve to be treated like anyone else....it is not us who are weird but rather those who treat dogs like wild animals!!!

I agree with Sherry Lynn - it's the people who wouldn't stop to help that I would be worried about - I just know that had to really upset you to see that... but you did the best thing you could and stepped up to help him -

bless his heart - that's really sad ....but you showed you are a far better person than those who felt "it was just a dog"....one day maybe they'll wake up and realize dogs have are far better souls than many people in the world

I would of called for help for that dog too. Some people just dont care for animals and I dont know why. Maybe they would be happyer people if they let these little ones in .

It just means you have a soul and they don't! Compassion for an animal that is hurt tells me that you care about all living things, humans and animals. You are a good person.

Is people that dont care for animals that are weird. You did the rite thing for that poor dog. When people tell me Gucci is just a dog, i tell them "to you is just a dog to me she is family,she is my baby".

You are a good person! Any decent person would help, I hate it when people aren't "animal" people! Where I work we have a cat who has been there for 20 years we took him to the vet the other day for a checkup (he is super healthy) and everyone kept asking if we were gonna put the "stupid cat" to sleep! Um why?!? He is healthy!!!!!
But you did the right thing that poor dog needed help even if it was to end his suffering

I know exactly how you feel! It infuriates me when people think of dogs as well "just a dog" I treat my dogs, and ALL dogs for that matter, members of the family!! I just get so upset with people, like my aunt who leaves her dogs in one room and the backyard when they haven't been fixed and she doesn't love them, who dont treat their dogs like true members of the family. I think that if you treat your dog like well "just a dog" you shouldn't have a dog!!! I can't stand people who don't love dogs as much as I do. I mean, I tolerate them, but I can't imagine treating my dog like some other people treat theirs!!

you have EVERY right to vent! It's sad, but we do live in a world for a lot of people don't have the same compassion as we do for animals. I do a lot of charity work (grooming) at the groom shop I work at and it breaks my heart everytime the rescue babies come in. Thankfully though, we are in a time where it is becoming more and more accepted than animals are a part of the family. To be treated like a member. One day, we can conquer the whole world with our love for animals. What you did, was just one more thing to prove to people that they're not just animals. They a creature of God with character, personality, true feelings, and scared hearts of gold in a big bad world.

Thank you all for your wonderful replys. Its very comforting to know that there are alot of kind people out there. I live in a town that feels very animal unfriendly. For petes sake we don't even really have a petstore unless you want fish. Personally I have taken in more animals than I can count. I always get them healthy and neutered or spayed, get them house trained just so I can find someone to adopt them. At no charge. Thank goodness I have a vet that helps me out with the med. bills. He only charges me for the medicines that they need. I have been ridiculed just for having a heart or what they say wasting my money. To me its just giving these little babies a chance in life.

Not only are we getting to be less polite; we are getting less human and humane. Shame on those people who put you down for helping one of God's creatures...What are we teaching our children when we act so calloused toward an obviously hurt animal..
You did the right thing by helping that animal..

you did the right thing i would of done the same, that poor doggie would of been in pain and if you hadnt called how long would the dog of been in pain before it passed away alone .
what really annoys me is that these prople think that animals dont feel, how wrong can they be
