| could he be mixed I have a question about Lewi's coloring. When I got him 2 mths ago he was the black and tan. Now all of the sudden I'm noticing that the top of his head is silver. And I never notice he has a white strick under his neck/ chest area. I'm hoping he doesn't have anything mix with him. I'm open to any opinions anyone has!! Thanks, Dotti and Lewi |

It is normal, very normal, for a yourkie to change colors a few times in their life. Also, the white patch on the chest will eventually disappear. Don't worry. Can you post pic's? I saw his pic on your album and he is beautiful!!! Last edited by babbsiam44; 02-05-2011 at 12:00 AM. | |

| I thought something was wrong with mine when I got her too, I bought a book on the breed and it goes over a lot of those little things and now that my second one is only 4 months old I have a reference guide! My has a grey head and I think it is so cute!

| Color changes like you described are totally normal and expected. Yorkies are a breed that has a color dilution gene, it's very fun to watch and see how much they change. The first time I went to the groomer with my first Yorkie at 9 months old I thought they were bringing me the wrong dog when they brought her out because they had clipped off all her black hair and she was silver-blue underneath!! It was a shock when I didn't know to expect it. Teresa |

| Rosie at 6 months old had black, silver, and tan on her head. Now, her little head is all tan but has a black and silver body. She has changed A LOT since we first got her. But I think she was beautiful then and now. Your baby will change a lot too!!

| Ziva's head started turning white at about 14 weeks, you can see how silver it is now! the avatar picture is about 18 months. I noticed today her platinum blonde legs are growing in darker tan at the roots! What's next! |

| When I took Remy to a training class the girl who was a trainer said she liked the tan and black yorkies better than the color of Remy... at that time she had a LOT of silver/gray -- I though "oh well.. I love her... what am I to do?" Now I have learned about how much the coats change and the stages they go through... Remy is now 1 year and she is beautiful
