| Owl and Hawk Alert A friend of mine let her 6 month old Yorkie go outside in the early morning along with her 3 other dogs. When she returned to let them back in, the 6 month old was nowhere to be found. When they pulled up their surveillence camara to see if anyone snatched their puppy, they were shocked to see an owl grab and fly away with their puppy. I dont want this to happen to anyone else so please go outside with your dogs. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Aw.... how sad. How much did the little girl weigh? This was in the morning? I wonder why the owl was out during the day.

| Yes, the puppy was about 5lbs. Hawks and Owls can carry off a dog weighing 12 lbs. My friend is so upset. |

| What a sad way to learn about the dangers of having small pets. I've always gone out with mine. There are too many predators for such tiny dogs to left unattended. I'm very sorry for your friend.

| I hate to hear stuff like that. My mind just replays what that baby went through. I am so sorry. |

| What a horrible thing to have happened. Years ago when I was in HS my best friend was out in her yard and a hawk swooped down and carried her yorkie away too. It is very possible and even with my teapots I always worry.

| I'm so very sorry for that family. This is one reason mine never go outside without me.

| That is my biggest fear with my two...other than running into the street. I wish there was something that would deter predators from our small pups.

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | This is just so horrible and sad. I'm so glad you posted though to remind everyone about the Dangers. One night last week, my husband was on our front porch & saw a little bunny running down our driveway and across the street to our neighbor's yard. He said "in the blink of an eye" what he thought was a hawk, swooped down & took the bunny. It happened so fast. He was surprised that it did this @night, but it was also a full moon which made it bright. He isn't sure whether it was a hawk or an owl. I was reading that a hawk hunts during day, and the owl hunts at night. I couldn't stand to hear the story, broke my heart....but it certainly shocked me into reality about the dangers, and how it can all happen so FAST. .

| Down the road a bit there is some construction going on and there is a small hawk that likes to hang around there... probably gets a lot of field mice or something, but it makes me paranoid.
