| How to DYE a yorkie Hello I need help, I'm going to purchase dye for my yorkie, were can I get a good dye ? Can I dye a dark colored dog, or is it just for white dogs ? I saw a picture of a black dog with neon purple coloring, SO cool ! so its propably possible. Fido is so dark, he's a cotton yorkie, I'm going to dye his mohawk, beard and tail ! I want to use the right product. Also, how do I color him ? I need instructions Please post pictures of your dyed yorkies ! I dont want to hear how stupid it is to dye a dog, I've heard enough of that, I just want to try to dye Fido and see how it will tourn out If he will look ridicoulus then i'm not gonna do it again.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | I have seen standard poodles with their fur dyed different colours before so there must be some pet friendly dyes out there. I think you should speak to your vet about this and ask him which dyes are safe for your pet. I also recommend you do a patch test once you do find a safe pet friendly dye just to make sure your dog dosnt have allergies, I have hair dye allergies myself and it is not nice to have a reaction and can be very dangerous. You could also ask your vet about food colouring, this would change the colour of the fur and seen as it is fit for human consumption it may be a safe option for dying your dogs hair. But ask your vet first!

There was a show on AP not too long ago that showed groomers in a poodle competition dyeing the dogs all sorts of weird colors. My husband looked at me and said "I won't bug you about dressing them up as long as you promise me you won't do THAT to my dogs."

| I hate to even respond to this thread but...... are you crazy???? Our little babies aren't toys!!! Why can't people just love them for what they are? There was a woman on here a while ago who dyed her yorkie and caught he** for it and she was adamant about doing it. Next thing you know she was sooooo sorry she did it. She was here asking how to get it out of her babies hair. I just don't understand. To me it is not a fashion accessory. But that's just me. Sorry Maybe you don't want to hear about how you shouldn't do it because maybe... you shouldn't do it!!! I really don't even want to know why you would want to do it. It's nuts. That poor baby!!

| I can't see it being worth the worry of perhaps harming your best friend. Chemicals are chemicals. I don't care how safe the manufacturers say they are. Can it be worth it? WARNINGS: May cause allergic reactions, pain, or severe itching if any of these occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a veterinarian.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | There are a few different types of pet safe hair dye. Manic Panic is a popular one, and Petedge has Top Performance. I used spray on food coloring on my yorkie for halloween but i dyed her tan parts, not the black. She too is a cotton coat. It is harder to dye darker colors and the color might not stick. Make sure you apply the dye to a clean and dry coat. Don't do it on dirty hair like with people. Be very careful dying his head. You do NOT want to get it in his eyes or mouth. Use a paint brush and wrap in foil to set. I have not used Manic Panic or Top Performance but I have seen it done by other groomers. As long as you are using safe dye and the dog is not bothered by the experience then I see nothing wrong with it. My dog LOVED it. She got so much positive attention from people. I gave her a pink mohawk and pink legs. I think i made a thread about it here somewhere

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Here is my thread about Morgan's dye job. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...rgan-punk.html You wanna call someone cruel for dying their dog then go ahead, call me cruel. Look at my pictures and my posts and see how cruel I am to my faithful companion dog. See the fear and torment in her eyes? omg i'm such a bad owner....
