| Our new puppy......:) Hello everyone.....we have received our new puppy this past weekend. She is a feisty 8 week old Yorkie. It has been tough training her on the pee pads and she seems very dominant and stubborn (and it's only been 5 days...lol). I have taught her to sit and am working on sitting up and fetch. Her name is Quila (take a guess where that came from lol). I have been searching this site because of a friend who is a member and there is way too much info...lol. Any help on her being dominant would be appreciated. Looking forward to learning everything about our new addition from this website!!! Thanks |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Quila is adorable. (anything to do with tequila? ) Yorkies are stubborn little dogs. It's the terrier in them.

| Welcome to YT! quila is so cute. 8 weeks is young for them to be able to learn tricks/potty/obedience, etc. Just keep showing her you are in charge. Puppy classes would be a good idea to if she's really hard headed. Well, all yorkies are stubborn and hard headed . Good luck!!

| Welcome!!! You're going to LOVE it here!!! 8 week is VERY young to understand things-usually pups learn much from their mommy's from 8-12 weeks, many say puppies do not understand most things until about 12 weeks (but I am NO expert) but keep putting her on the pad and say "go potty" and as soon as she does, give her a treat. She will have to go every hour or so, we got our 2nd yorkie 2 weeks ago at 11 weeks old and he is getting the hang of things....we still have accidents but that's bound to happen!!! LOVE HER NAME!!!! | Thanks everyone for the compliments and encouragement. I did not know that 8 weeks is quite young to learn tricks and housebreak. She will now sit on command without treats and I am working on sitting up position (begging). She is learning fetch a little bit...she likes to chew on it for a while before she brings it back. the housebreaking has been getting better. She is a bundle of excitement and joy though. |
