| They are too close, I am sad! 8 weeks ago I had a litter of three, 2 boys and a girl. One male is going to the sire owner and the other one I have accepted a deposit on. My little girl, Tia, is staying with me. The problem is that for the past two weeks the little male with the deposit is in love with my DH and my DH loves him back. Everytime he walks in our bedroom, little man is all over his feet, running around his legs, falling on his back for a tummy rub and just wants all of my DH's attention. Everytime I walk in the room he looks behind me to see if my DH is there, forget me. "Hey little man I am the one who feeds you and I love you too." My DH is now calling him son and wants me to return the deposit so HE can keep him. Everytime I see them together my heart melts and breaks at the same time. I actually think my DH might cry when he leaves. Has anyone gone through this before? If we didn't have them in our room (it's warmer in here) I would seperate the two of them the last week he would be here. For real, I would love to keep him too!! There is a sad day coming to our house!!! Last edited by babbsiam44; 01-26-2011 at 03:14 PM. |

| That would be easy for me to solve. I'd return the deposit and keep him! Why break both your husband's and the little guy's heart?

| I've always wondered how breeders let go any of their puppies. I joke with my DH that I could never be a breeder because I would be a hoarder! LOL! But seriously, is it a bad thing for you to return the deposit? |

| Can you take on another dog? If so- why not return the deposit and let hubby keep the little guy. I think a breeders job is to make sure their puppies go to the best possible place- if hubby and puppy have bonded and puppy would be happiest in your house, explain the situation, apologize, and return the deposit.

| We signed a contract. I will have two furbabies, momma and daughter and I know I want another down the road. If I ever breed my girl again (this was her first, I was a wreck) I will keep them all!!! I am learning a very sad lesson here. As of this writing guess where my DH is...on the edge of the bed watching them. sigh I love him! |

| The people that want him are an older retired couple who take two days of cooking school a week and home the rest. They said they have been looking for seven months now and when they saw him they knew he was the one. They also have two other yorkies as well. I hate going back on my word and I feel a contract is a promise. I just talked to my DH and he said it will be OK. Oh God I am stuck. As one of our members here always post at the end: God, grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference. |

| Well the good thing is that the puppy will be well loved. Perhaps if the couple lives close he can visit. I understand if I had been looking for 7 months and fell in love.... |

Second idea if DH says he will be OK, I think that you believe him; pups will bond with other loving ppl very easily once out of their birth environment. If you are thricely sure about this older couple being a wonderful home; then I think it is wise to honor that contract. Also please think about if you keep that male; you will likely need to neuter him, especially if you keep your female intact. But all in all it is a decision that for sure tugs at your heartstrings.

I am "thricely sure about this older couple being a wonderful home" Heartstrings are almost pulled out! I thank all of you for your input. I am just upset about this but I feel from the bottom of my heart a contract is a contract(a promise is a promise). What kind of person would I be if I start breaking contracts, and it's only a deposit contract? What next a puppy sale contract? I couldn't hold my head up. I have always looked up to the members here and taken advice to heart. I thank you again for all of your advice. | |
