| I need a break Life is so hectic right now. Sadie is in heat, Scooter is keeping me so busy. Someone suggested to me to have Scooter go to a friend or family members house until Sadie is out of heat. How would my baby boy feel then? He already thinks I hate him because he is not allowed around her, no walks with her. I do not trust anyone in my family to take care of my babies the way I would want them taken care of you see, my family looks at a dog and sees a dog, I see my family when I look at my dogs. I am packing up the house so that I can move next weekend on top of all of this. I think I am just worn out and I think this is only day 6 of her heat, how am I going to do this for 21 days? I am so tired because of the constant worry that he is going to get to her. She is getting tired of the diapers too and she is letting me know it by trying to take them off. I feel so bad for her because she has no idea what is going on and why she is acting this way. I am curious as to how long she will bleed. It has been 5 days already so I am hoping maybe one more week and I can get the diapers off her. I still have to keep him away from her for at least two weeks after that. The vet says she can not spay her now until 6 weeks after she goes out of heat. I guess I just needed to release a little. sorry this is so long. My babies are spoiled RIP Sophie Lynn Mommy loves and misses you |

| Oh how I can relate! Don't forget this is only a moment in time... It won't Last forever. Dogs are very resilient and forgiving. I think you need to let yourself off the hook a bit. You are doing a good thing keeping them away from eachother, by that I mean that an unwanted litter is super tough. Keep up the good work. Your a good Mamma!

| You are doing great! It is super hard to keep a male from a female in heat, especially in the same house. I would let Scooter go stay with someone else if you had someone you trust. It would just be so much easier. I can't remember about the bleeding, I've only had one female dog to come into heat. I don't think you have much longer though. Is she wearing just diapers or are you putting bloomers/dog panties over them? I did this with my female and it really helped keep them on. Good luck!!!

YT 1000 Club Member | Going through a similar situation. My male is only 8 months and in no way ready to be a daddy. So what has been working for me is this. Since I am currently showing him he gets wrapped in the morning and a belly band plus his wrapping jacket go on, then I put a harness over the wrapping jacket and have a leash tied to my belt loop and he stays with me whenever Friday is on the floor. When Friday is in my lap he gets to be off leash. She is on day 16 of her cycle and I am proud to say we have not had any accidental breedings. I have a friend that is getting ready for the baby gates and plexiglass with her group. I wish I could use baby gates but we have a few doorways that are wider than normal plus My 82 year old Mother in Law lives with us and she has senile dementia so I have to do what works for our situation.

| Why don't you have your male neutered so you don't have to worry about keeping them apart? Then you can have your female spayed when the vet says it o.k.

| I would definitely send Scooter to a friend's house. If she is only day 6, you haven't seen the worst yet. Next week, right when you are trying to move, Scooter will probably be unbearable. In addition, Sophie will probably be trying to get to him, too. It will be too easy for an accidental breeding to take place, especially with the confusion of moving. Neutering Scooter now won't help either as it takes about a month for them to be "safe". May I ask why they weren't spayed/neutered earlier? All this could have been avoided. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Neutering removes the testes, but there is still sperm in the vas deferens that take about 10 days to mature then die. 30 days is your safety net to make sure there are no "lingerers" so to speak.

| I would not trust diapers and belly bands. I would have a gate between them at all times, and two gates when not at home. They are very determined and can get very creative. |

| I would send him to a friend's house. It's only going to get worse, and even if you manage to keep them apart successfully, it is going to be pure hell on him to be around that and not be able to have it. He'll be much happier somewhere else, even thought it is away from home, rather than deal with "unrequited love."

| I think you should spay and neuter your pups asap. You should also probably send one of them to a friends house to ensure they don't mate. Good luck...
