| Need Advice okay so i just got harley( Yorkie puppy 11 weeks old) a few days ago and he is the best thing ever, no barking super calm great dog, i wanted to make sure I'm doing the potty training right. so we have him in a a 42 gal storage bin, 1 side a towel and 1 side a potty pad. I want to put him in a small kennel but i don't think the muscle that controls his bladder is developed enough. Any input? i take him out almost every 30min. to an hour to his designated, "pepee area, and hes great as long as i take him often but if itsbeen any longer he will pee in the bin.another thing. How do i train him to go to his area without having to carry him there? also i am taking him on a small road trip up to the mountains and wanted to see what if anyone had any suggestions for when he us there thanks! |

| Congratulations with the new puppy ! Do you have any pictures ? He's so small, Fido didnt get full potty trained until about 9-10 months, so you might have to wait a little longer until she comes fully pottytrained To you make her go on pee-pads or outside? I dont reccomand those peepads, let her pee and poop outside, if you have peepads for her first then it becomes much more harder to train her to go outside to do her, Fido was trained on pee-pads when I got him, so he were longer to learn to to his outside. Is she always in the bin? you have to let her bee free in the house most the time, i would never have Fido always in his cage/room, he's just there when I'm not home Good luck!

| How true on the FOREVER to house break! These little babies are so smart, train easy, but will still try and get away with ANYTHING they can! Maybe because I have always had more than one, work, and am way to soft hearted, but I had a rough time!! I am finally learning to TRY and not let them get by with so much manipulation! It is so hard because they are so adorable! But when you read some of the info on this site, you will find you have a super smart baby and is capable of so very much. I did notice my tiny yorkie had to go way more frequently than any one of the bigger ones. I upped the frequency of going out and it made all the difference. You may want to get a coat for your new baby. I also learned on this site that yorkies have no under coat. I never stay out long in the cold with mine as it is warm most of the time where I live and they do not seem to like the cold at all. Maybe they get acclimated to where they live just like we do! |

ya makes sense but as time goes on he'll be able to hold it longer? I'm very intent on getting him house trained by the time he's 1 year old. | |

| Mine are pad trained and they also go outside. I love it this way simply because if we can't take them certain places, then we put pads down while were out. It's also great when going into motels and you don't really like going out in the dark or the rain. Mine will always use the pad if they aren't taken out. I love that. When they were puppies in training, they stayed in the xpen with the crate attached and a pad at one end and water at the other, along with toys. I took them outside every hour to run, play, train, and potty. At night we would put them on the sofa with us with a chew and a toy but not let them down on the floor. Then we would just take them outside every hour or if they were really restless. Worked for us.

| I've had my little girl for 2 days. I haven't yet gotten her to potty outside and I take her out every hour. She has pooped twice in her kennel/crate, but I haven't seen her pee at all yet. I'm not sure if she dribbles in her kennel and I just don't know it, or what? |

| It's ok to take your pup out in the morning, it won't freeze. Mine goes out in the morning and it's colder than 45 here. He does his business and comes back inside. He enjoys being outside so during the day when it's warmer he will spend some time playing outside. He even goes outside to potty when it rains...doesn't bother him at all! |
