| My new yorkie. Hi, I'm new here and had a question for anyone who could maybe help me out. I purchased a yorkie last thursday. She is the cutest thing and I was in love when I first saw her. I knew she was only 7 weeks old but I didn't realize until I really started looking for information on yorkies that breeders normally don't let go of yorkies till 11 to 14 weeks old. She only 8 oz. and I was wondering if there is anything that I should maybe know about them when their that young and small. I just want to make sure she gets everything she needs. I took her for her vet checkup that friday and everything was fine with her and the vet said it was the smallest puppy he had seen at her age. If anyone has any advise for me I would love to have it. Thank you......Crystal |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Congratulations! I would watch her very carefully for hypoglcemia. She will need to eat evry two hours and during the night also. That would be the one concern I would have with her being so young and tiny. cali was 9 weeks old and 1 lb and she had 2 hypoglcemic episodes even with me watching her. So make sure she is eating and have honey or karo syrup handy just in case. Good luck she sounds adorable |

| Welcome fellow North Carolinian!!! I can't imagine someone letting a pup go that is that small. There is tons of info on here about tiny pups. I'd love to see a picture!

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk First, I would like to welcome you to YT, Crystal !!! This is no reflection to you secondly, but.... this breeder is out of her/his mind letting such a small one leave her home already... Crystal, I would get some nutri-cal for her if you haven't already and monitor her closely...

| Thank alot. That is the one thing the lady told me about when I got her. (the karo syrup) She eats great but her second day home when I took her out of her crate in the morning she couldn't stand up and I about had a heart attack. I gave her some karo syrup on my finger and she livened up quickly. thank you ..Crystal |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | She's adorable! The main concern at that age is hypoglycemia...you can get Nutristat or Nutrical for that. As long as she eats and keeps hydrated, she should be okay. 7 weeks is a little young to let her go...especially for her size. Did the breeder offer any type of warranty on her? Also, watch for any loose stools/vomiting from the stress of not being with her momma.
