| Stringy Coat Question Hi all. Hopefully I can get some advice. My little Yorkie is 7 months old. She has a very differrent coat than my older Yorkie who always had a thick more freshly washed looking coat. Anyway, Zoey's hair is really thin and stringy looking (almost looks like she is still wet from a bath when she isn't). She looks this way no matter how often she is bathed and seconds after brushed. She has a really light colored silver at her roots, so I have avoided having them trim her main coat at all yet as I am clinging to her dark coat for as long as I can. They have just trimmed the essential areas to date. I am one of those that actually loves the puppy cut. I keep my older Yorkie in that. If I get that cut on Zoey, will it look just as stringy but short or would it help fluff her up some do you think? LOL Just crossing my fingers there is a bit less stringy coat lurking underneath. I'll love her the same regardless though. Thanks Last edited by LeighJ; 12-31-2010 at 08:10 AM. |

| Hi.. I don't know if my advice will help because I have only one Yorkie and she is about 1 year. Remy is beautiful ..but she has a very thin stringy coat. It looks silver or gray when she is next to darker yorkies. There isn't any shine to the hair on her body and always looks uncombed. I finally cut the hair on her body and left the legs and face full. I will say she looks so cute.. and it is better when she wears clothes (no tangles). I may let it grow back latter, and see if it grows in thicker (I was told it would)

| Lucy has the dark hair on her body (I can see some silver hairs peeking through) and her hair is fine and 'stringy' as well. She also will do anything to rub a bow out of her hair. Little stinker. Anyhoo, I have her face cut short so there is no 'straggly' beard hanging down and her body kept fairly long to preserve that beautiful, dark color. It's a cute cut when they do it right!

| Thanks all for the advice. Aww, Remy is so cute in her Christmas outfit! I think Zoey will be very similar in color when she gets a little older. |

| Lil Sis = Your Remy looks alot like my Pixie. The string hair and it doesn't matter how often I brushes it out it still looks unkept. Pixie face and her legs are Red and the body of her hair is that slivery color. I've only get her trim like about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
