| Help! Something's wrong First off I wanna let you all know that I plan to call the vet today. Okay here's what's up. The thurs. before last my husband and I were in the parking lot of the grocery store with Logan, well Logan went over to say hi to some ladies and was being his normal self and all of the sudden he picked up his left front leg and wouldn't put it down. I didn't see him do anything. So I picked him up right away and everytime I touched near his, lets say, elbow he would whine. So the ladies suggested I run him over to the vet across the street. Which I did. The door was locked because they were doing surgery so I knocked and the vet assistant came to the door. The whole time I was waiting for her Logan was whining and acting like he was in pain. But the minute she came to the door he was fine. She had me put him on the floor and he walked around like nothing was wrong. And then she felt and stretched his leg, but found nothing wrong. So I thought maybe he had a cramp or wanted attention or something and forgot about it. Well last night he was playing fetch with us and he came running to jump up on the couch. Well the minute he got up on the couch he put that same leg up again. So I grabbed him and started to rub it. After about a minute he stopped whining so I stopped and he went and laid down on the couch and then I guess he moved and it hurt so he started whining again. So I rubbed it some more and then put him on the ground to see if he could walk on it. He tried to walk on it and totally wiped out, it was so sad. So I freaked out and called my mom who said it could be growing pains or anything and to wait til morning and call the vet (this was at 9:30), well after I got off the phone with my mom, the whole time I was holding Logan and rubbing his leg. I gently put him on the floor and went to the kitchen for some water and he trotted after me like nothing was wrong. So I don't know what to think. Anyone have any thoughts. By the way Logan is 6 months old and weighs 8 lbs

| He might have pulled something. I wouldn't let him jump on anything for a few days. You might also check his nails and paws and see if he broke a nail or got something stuck in his pad. I hope he feels better. Let us know what the vet says. |

| WOW! that is really weird...i have not had anything like this happen and have not ever heard of anything like it. Your best bet would be just take him to the vet and let them tell you...Sorry!

| I would have him seen, it could be something is up with his knee. Or a joint could have been pulled. But I would call and get him seen by a vet. Please keep us posted. (((((((Logan)))))))

| The only thing that comes to my mind is perhaps he is getting leg cramps? Though the Vet should be able to be more definitive. Let us know what happenes! Sue |

| Leg cramps are the only thing I can think of too. I would have a vet check him over just to be on the safe side.

| I called my vet and she said it's not luxating patella because it's in the front leg. she thinks that he's kinda dislocating that joint when he does certain things. She says that happens sometimes. She told me just to rub it and help it back into place. She imagines that once he stops growing this will stop as well. She wants me to bring him in if for some reason I can't get it corrected on my own then they'll do x-rays and tests. She believes it's due to him getting so tall so fast and once his bones and joints and ligiments catch up he'll be fine. If once he's done growing the problem keeps occuring then we're going to try and figure out what the problem is.

| I'll bet that is it, too. He's growing so fast and it is slipping around. Perhaps once he stops growing then everything will grow into place and stay there. Keep us up to date on the little cutie.

| Ponyup: This same thing happened with my dog back home in Connecticut, and it turned out to be Lyme disease. Don't want to alarm you, but just wanted to share my experience. Taken from here "...symptoms of Lyme disease that may include limping, usually one of its front legs, fever as high as 105 degrees, fatigue, appetite loss, and signs of discomfort or pain" Hope your Logan feels better! |
