Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Let me first say...congrats on your new little one...it is always an exciting time!! I would say that you could bathe her anytime now, but I would wait a couple of days until she is a little more comfortable at your house...you don't want to put to much stress on to quickly!! With the food, again I would wait a couple of weeks to let her totally adjust and then slowly start switching her food, making sure that she is always getting enough to eat!!

| puppy bath I would say if she's really filthy and you feel like it's a hygiene issue, then bath her. Brandy was that way when we rescued her, and she was 5 weeks. The whole litter was sitting in a box lined with newspaper full of their own waste. Thank god eensor saved the rest. I wouldn't even let my nephews or son pet her, we went straight to petsmart since we lived an hour away and asked them if they could help us. They bathed her for free and I bought her a sweater and stayed there until she was dry, I even had my sister pull her car around so she could go straight into it. There are quick bath puppy wipes that you can also buy if you don't want to put her in water. Good luck. |

| here is my opinion...i would feed wet food first...then try mixing in whatever dry food you want to feed her......I did this and I just left out the dry food (chopped up ina blender) and Dollar started to eat it on his own...I was advised to sit out certian things and let them pick what they like.

| If she really needs a bath, you can give her one, just be sure to keep her warm. She might not like the blow dryer, but she needs to be dry & warm. As far as the food goes. You have to add small amounts of the new food to the food she eats now. Keep adding more and more untill she is on the food you want her on. I wouldn't do it the first week, she needs to adjust to her new home. Good Luck!!! Take lots of pictures~~~

| If you're afraid to bathe her right now you can also get those bath cloths at the pet store (they are basically like wet naps) and wipe her down with that. We did that for Choppi when he got his front dewclaws removed, neutered, and teeth cleaned all the same time. But the neck ring made his face stink so bad and of course we couldn't bathe him so I bought those bath cloths wiped his face and wahlah his face smelled so much better! You can also sprinkle a tiny bit of of talc powder on your hands and stroke it on to the back of her coat, neck and head...it should help with the "greasy" look and give her a nice smell too!

some shampoos take out the essential oils in puppys delicate skin, so a lot of people will advise to wait till it has built up enough it won't just wash away. | |
