| Humping Issue: Take it away or not I brought a stuffed large 2 feet stuffed alligator home for my dog this past summer and only recently gave it to him. He wasn't sure of this new toy, but earlier tonight he was humping it. The Vet told me a while back not to let him do this cause he made have issues and he would have to be surgically be....you know...pushed back in. He hasn't done this in a long time. I tried taking it away, but decided not to. It has a bunch of squeakers all down the spine, so I thought it would squeak and he would be scared as usual. Not. I know this isn't bothering me, but is it possible that he could get stuck, as the Vet said and have to be surgically pushed back in~? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Both my boys have a lover dog, and we see no real reason for stopping them from doing this. They have never, ever shown a desire to hump a human being (which would be likely be annoying). Sometimes, they have 'dates' with their lover dog, other times they just like to cuddle with lover dog. They seem to find lover dog very comforting and soothing. I will say that our tiny Marcel is...um...VERY well endowed, shall we say. It's crazy. There have been times when his ManPart has gotten stuck in the outsie position. When this happens, we use Marcel's personal lubricant (!) to help him, which we bought just for that reason. Even without the humping, some boys get their ManPart stuck out nonetheless, so it's good to have something on hand, should your fella need some help.

| Maybe he will get tired of it. Last year, my friend gave Sammy a big stuffed dog that, when you squeeze his paw, moves and Christmas music plays. Well, Sammy must have really liked the music, because he was having a real love fest with this stuffed animal. That lasted 2 days and then he didn't do it again. |

| When my Neo was just a baby he started humping! From everything that I have read, and MY vet's advice-- it is perfectly harmless for your baby to hump his toy. I bought Neo a "Phucky" Duck for his romantic urges, and at 8 months old he was neutered. The vet said that humping is actually good for your boy, as it helps "seat" his testicles and make for less of a chance of undecended testes. Of course, there is a time and place for these "intimate moments", but that is more behavioral than unhealthy. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Surgically pushed back in? I wonder if your vet meant, "Manually pushed back in?" I guess this happens occasionally, and you can use a lubricant to ease back into place. Sometimes hair has gotten in the way, and the shaft can't go back down. Before Joey was neutered, he would hump his toys, it didn't bother me, and unless it's excessive, I wouldn't worry about it. It actually can help a puppy's testicles drop, and that's a good thing.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Lol, if you had to buy him his own lubricant, maybe he's watching too many x-rated shows on Animal Planet!

| Bubba humps his bed every night after dinner. Occasionly he will attempt to hump Sissy but she's having none of that and lets him know it.

| Jackson has a bear that he loves... he will hump it sometimes, but other times he enjoys just laying on it, or with it, or holding the stuffed bears nose in his mouth and falling asleep with it, lol. It's like a security blanket to him so I don't take it away... it's not like he's an excessive humper, or humping people OR other dogs, so it just doesn't bother me....

| Girls, girls, girls Thank goodness both of my pups are girls. Wow that's one problem I don't have to worry about. We have plenty of other "issues" to keep us busy. |

| It must be that toy! We bought that same alligator with all the squeakers for Wall-e, and yep, he pushes it into a pile, and....goes to town. Had to take it away!

| Levi sometimes likes to hump oversized stuffed animals, but he will rarely do it if I am in the room with him. He will, however, hump a stuffed animal in front of my boyfriend...not often, but sometimes. Boyfriend tends to allow it but I usually try to redirect his attention. It's not a huge deal to me, I just don't want it to become a habit. Once or twice I've had to help him put his ManPart (haha!) away, but never heard of surgical intervention?
