| Unstoppable humping and crying My yorkie is almost 3 years old (He will be 3 April 1st)...This past weekend we were at my in-laws, they have a Cocker-Female that is almost 10 yrs old and a mix of Cocker and s**tzu-Male that is almost 1 yr old. My yorkie -Google was a complete mess this past weekend. He uncontrollably wanted to be with the female cocker that is 4x his size..he humped her all day the entire weekend!!! he wouldnt even allow her to walk in peace! (This is not the first time Google has been at my in-laws! Since he was a puppy he has been there 100s of times)...Then whenever he couldnt get to the female cocker he started going after the cocker-shih tzu mix, he would hump him and go underneath to his privates! And finally he got aggresive towards the male dog twice! Then at night he would cry and cry because I wouldnt let him go bother the other dogs! He didnt sleep or let me sleep! Needless to say he drove me insane this past weekend! He has never been this insistant and uncontrollable. We caged him to punish him and show him its not ok...we told him NO so many times! Sprayed him with water whenever he tried to go after the other dogs! He is not neutered and I was thinking if having him could fix the problem...I am lost with all this and dont want to take him anywhere where there is other dogs again Please help!!! What should I do or try???? Thank you! Last edited by GoogleMyBaby; 12-13-2010 at 11:49 AM. |

| My advice would be to get him neutered ASAP. You would never see this behavior if he had been neutered at 6 months.

| Punishment for doing what his hormones are telling him to do is not fair to him, nor is it effective. The drive to reproduce is very strong in intact males. They will risk life and limb to pursue a female. Solve all of your problems and have him neutered. |

| His behavior is normal for an intact male. He will fight other male dogs he views as his competition. Please get him neutered. |

| You post here that you are irritated by his constant humping and then within MINUTES you post looking to stud him! UNBELIEVABEL! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sou...ml#post3355493 Quote:

Since people posted that it was a normal issue with "Intact Males" I thought I would give him a chance and see if mating him would cause this issue to calm down. My husband is really against the neutering option and he would like to try different avenues before we take such a drastic decision. I would appreciate that you PM me if you have any concerns... | |

I'm not sure why you would want me to PM you my concerns when I can post them on the forum just like everyone else has. Neutering is not drastic~it's called population control and responsible pet ownership. Benefits of Neutering (Castrating) Male Dogs & Puppies
