| Nausea: What do you do for your dogs Maxwell got sick not once, but twice. It definitely was his food. I don't know if I should call the Vet whose has 24 hours of service. I gave him some treats of " natural balance rolls". I keep his treats and food in the fridge, so if it was old, it would stay fresh. Or maybe it was the bit of dry turkey food I put on the side of his dry. I was trying to change his food a while back and bought a small bag of the turkey in the "Blue Buffalo" brand. It has larger kibbles than the chicken he eats. Plus, I mashed some wet canned chicken on the bottom of the bowl, so he would eat, and the only way he will eat. If I call the Vet, the nurse on call would tell me to take the food and water away. He's active since the eposide and wants to play, when I want him to rest. I may take him in this week to check him out, since his shots are due anyways this month. |

| How old is Maxwell? One thing I can tell you is I have fed Natural Balance in the sausage roll package and all three of mine got sick. Also, what is the protein content in the Blue Buffalo?

| I have three that get nausea and vomiting if they eat anything other than their "now" diet...I fed the Blue Buffalo Beef a year ago and my oldest Yogi got pancreatitis..My vet said the protein was too high in this food..I believe it was around 28%...He felt like this caused the tummy trouble...said this high of a protein content was for very active/working dogs and can really be hard on their whole digestive tract?? I don't know if thats what your little guy is having problems from but, during this time he put him on Cerenia for nausea and vomiting. I have used it at times since then and it has really worked for mine..a prescription of course...

| That is one of the problems with feeding so many things at once. If your dog has a bad reaction, you don't know what caused it. Was anything you fed new to his diet? If not, he might just have a little nervous stomach. What was the vomit like? Could you still see the food? Yellow bile? Foamy? Some dogs will vomit if they eat too fast (usually looks just like the food that went in), if their stomach is empty and they are upset (bile only comes up), there is too much protein or fat for them to digest (may get a lot of food come up partially digested), if they have pancreatitis, or if they are just plain sick with a virus of some kind (usually accompanied by diarrhea). Lots of reasons for a couple bouts of vomit. My Jack Russell has a sensitive stomach and vomits once a week or so. Never amounts to anything and she doesn't have full fledge pancreatitis but she definately is sensitive! She is also my nervous nellie. Everything makes her shake, poor thing is always so insecure. But her blood work looks great. You could call the 24 hour vet. But if that was the only symptom in an adult dog, I probably would not take mine in to the vet after just 2 episodes of vomit. You say i twas definately his food. How do you know this? If it is, then a vet trip would not be necessary. Just start cutting out the foods. But it might never happen again, even feeding all the same things. Usually when they are sick, the vet will tell you to stop foods for a while and then you start back with one thing at a time, adding gradually after they show no symptoms with each one.

| All four of mine got sick and we are thinking it is the Blue Buffalo. It has to be with all of them getting sick. I put them on chicken and rice to try to get their stomachs settled and the diarrahea stopped and its been a week and everyone is still not back to par. I had them on Innova but its closer for us to go to Petsmart than Cannine Commissary and they just don't carry any holistic foods to chose from. And oh the gas on their little tummies. It would gag you to the point of throwing up. ugh!!!! Poor babies. I think they are getting spoiled to the chicken breast and brown rice. Thats all they want now. Hope your baby gets better fast. Its so hard when they are sick. Went today and bought Innovia and threw out probably 75.00 worth of Blue Buffalo. |

| After we have put all of ours on the Innovia we have already seen a change in the stools and no more gas. Thank goodness!!!!!!! I will never buy Blue Buffalo again. It might be okay for some but we have 2 yorkies and 2 mini schnauzers that both breeds need low fat and are prone to pancreatis. I was beginning to think my Christmas was going to be constantly cleaning up poop and wiping hineys. |
