| My 4 month old puppy is lifting his leg! My 4 month old guy Memphis has started lifting his leg when peeing over the past week. He seems to do this equal if not more often than he squats to pee now. This seems really young to me. We do have another male dog in the house, perhaps he's been watching? I don't remember any of our other male dogs ever doing this before 6 mos to a year. Does this seem early to you? |

| i've never had a male puppy, but i got Dexx when bambi and kuki were very young- at about 15wks or so, bambi started lifting her leg to pee- copying dexter... only for a few weeks until she realised that meant constant baths! so i guess if She copied him, then that could very well be the case for your baby... they grow up soo fast!!!

| LOL -- I guess I should never assume! Once he grows a little bit if a "string" (the longer hair surrounding the penis) it will help direct the flow away from him. So, not to worry -- he will be clean, even with lifting the leg.

| Doodlebug was a leg lifter at about the same age. Cracked me up to see his so tiny hiking that little leg to pee.

| I think this is kind of early, but my male started lifting his leg at 5 months. I would just say get him neutered right at 6 months to avoid him marking in the house.

| Leg Lifter I have a son to but he still squats. The reason why I am responding to this post is because he does lift his leg all the time every since we got him at 8 weeks old and he is 5 months old now. For some reason every time we talk to him or go near him, he lays down and lifts his leg in the air. I just laugh at him but I do wonder why is he doing that? Sometimes he will roll over on his back and then open his legs. I am guessing he wants us to rub his tummy but it is a little confusing. I could be on the other side of the room but when I call his name he will look, lay down and lift his leg. He is too much.

Haha that's too funny but normal. Some boys mature faster than others. I know this because I was worried about my little boy He started raising his leg at 3mths. Unfortunately he started marking before I got him potty trained. Eventually we worked it out. LOL | |

| I've heard some males do learn by seeing other males lift their leg. Bullet was neutered at 7 months and never lifted his leg before or after the neuter. It hasn't stopped his humping though!!! |

| Scooter started lifting his leg last week too and he just turned 4 months also. I too thought that maybe it was to soon but the vet assured me he is right on scheldule. He looks so cute cause he still can not balance himself real good so sometimes he falls over. He has to stop at every tree, pole and hydrant. He is so cute |

| Walt is 4 months old... He started lifting his leg when he was 3 months but it's only about 50% of the time... lol I like when he does because if he doesn't it's hard to tell when he goes since he's so small! Thankfully he hasn't marked our house... We're planning on getting him neutered when he's older. |

| They're suppose to have balance? My 2 year old tries so very hard to lift his leg as high as he can, in hopes of marking as high as he can. He has actually toppled himself over. It's hilarious to watch! __________________ Omg that is to funny, Scooter actually looks like he may topple over to it is so funny |
