| Can't figure out what kind of coat my yorkie has? Please help. :) [[Pictures posted]] Meet Tater aka Tatie. The first photo is when he was 2 and a half months. The second photo is when he was roughly 4 months. And the last 2 photos are the most recent he is now around 5 and a half, close to 6 months. I was reading online about yorkie coats and I was just wondering if anyone could help me try and figure out what kind of coat Tatie has? It's a little bit coarser and wiry, but still touchable. His hair on his head is very soft while the hair on his back is a bit more coarse. Also, what should I expect for the colors as he grows older? The color on his head is turning a light greyish white within the tan while there are sprouts of grey showing up on the rest of his black hair. Thank you for your time! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome. Tater is so cute. I can't say for sure what type of coat he has. The 2 of mine that have the silky coats were both adults when I got them so I don't know what they looked like as babies. My other 2 that are cottony coats were more fluffy so I think he may have a coat that goes more to the silky side, which is the good.

| Well, his eyes look like they flash green in the photo, so it's LIKELY (although not for sure) that he has a silky coat. Other than that it is somewhat hard to tell from these pics. hope that helps! Good luck! Kathryn, Lucy, and Lila |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Judging from your photos...he has a hard silk coat. These are typically slow growing but are easy to care for. As far as his coloring...the head breaks color first...sometimes looks grey but then golds out. It can take a full 3 years for their adult coloring to come in.

| Can you take more pictures with flash on? It looks like his eyes flash green but not positive. Normally they are a lot greener than that. Take more pictures. If they are indeed green, then he should have silky coat. |

| ive never heard of the eye color thing. does that really tell what coat they have? i never reallyknew the difference in coats, just assumed he was "silky" cuz he felt that way to me, but his eyes do reflect green or yellow green in pictures. |
