Lilly's first birthday. Any ideas? Tomorrow is Lilly's first birthday. She's my first dog in awhile. I had family dogs growing up, but we never did anything for them on their birthdays.... I had a german shepherd with my husband, who is now with my mother-in-law (we were stationed in Germany with the army and we flew him back to the states a few months ahead of us. My in-law's live out in the country with 3 or 4 acres. When we got back to the states and saw how much fun he was having with all that room to run, and knowing we were going to be moving into an apartment or a house in the city, we couldn't take him away from the country. Plus, they had just recently had to put down their other german shepherd and they were already attached to him. Needless to say, Baron resides with the in-law's. ) Anyway, enough babbling. Long story short... I've never celebrated a birthday with a dog, so I'm completely empty when it cones to ideas. I special ordered her a birthday cookie from the dog bakery in town and picked it up today. But that's all I have so far. Any suggestions for tomorrow would be great.

I had a party for Rio on her first birthday. Invited my nieces, nephews, and siblings for a pizza party, birthday cake for the humans, and of course a special doggie birthday cake for Rio. I even got her birthday balloons and Hello Kitty party plates, napkins, and tablecloth!

I see I missed her birthday party, but for my german shepherd Max's 1st Birthday we went all out. We went to our local dog park (which was an AMAZING one) and I invited all of my family and all of my friends with or without dogs. I made super cute party favors for each dog using one of those $1 frisbees from the pet store turned upside down as the base for the bag and tossed in treats, balls, toys, and other fun goodies. Back then PetSmart had paper birthday hats like humans used to use so I had those and funny enough all the dogs kept them on. I made a doggie cake at home and brought goodies for the adults. We had a fun time just hanging out and the dogs LOVED it.

For Sophie's first birthday last year I invited some friends and their dogs (all friendly dogs). The dogs played outside in the fenced in yard and we had human food. I did decorate with ballons, birthday napkins plateware and centerpieces. I made a cake for Sophie and the dogs and also made goodie bags for all the dogs that attended. She had a blast and loved her gifts!
