| I got my baby today, But..... I am so worried about her. She truly has spent the last 7 months of her life outside. She is afraid of everything, The tv, dishwasher, blender. She has never been inside a house and she shakes because she is so afraid of everything. She really is very loving and wants to give kisses. She refuses to pee outside because I have her on a leash, which by the way, she has never been on or ever worn a collar. I do not have a choice,my fence is to high off the ground and she can get under it and I am not taking any chances. This is gonna be a long hard road for me and this little girl but I am not giving up. Please wish us luck. I feel so sorry for her. |

| I have a little Yorkie who can be timid also, my suggestion is let her ease into the new things in the house. Maybe you can limit her area and when she goes to a new area be with her, use a gentle voice and assure her that she is safe. As far as the leash, I am sure you using a harness on her since if not I would get her used to that right away. The way I taught Sophie Kate to walk on a leash was a rolled a ball down the sidewlalk and chased it.

| I wish you all the luck with this precious little baby. I will pray your little one finds comfort soon in her new safe haven. I can't even imagine leaving Maddie outside. To think of the dangers that lurk and her sleeping ouside in the cold... so sad. I bet she is scared. With time and patience she will soon realize she is safe. How did she come to be with you? |

| I got her from a private owner in Canton Ohio. They said she never sold with the litter so he just kept her outside on his 12 acres and had a kennel out there for her. She is sleeping on the couch now.Yes I have her on a harness there is no way I would use a collar because she would choke herself to death trying to get off it. |

| Best of luck with her. I am sure with some TLC she will be fine. Did you ever consider using puppy training pads with her. Before I got Daisy, I had two yorkies who always went outside. I never thought I would do anything else but the breeder I got her from use them and she was trained in a flash. |

| I can not use the puppy pads as I have Scooter here who is just about housebroken and I am sure that would confuse him to no end. I will just work with her till we both get it right. |

Yorkie Talker | Keep talking to her and reassuring her that you are going to make her safe and she has nothing to worry about. The last thing she needs is for someone to give up on her. Dogs understand small phrases so she will understand you in due time. I talk to my dogs all the time. My cockapoo talks back to me and tells me she loves me and alot of other catch phrases. I was so surprised the first time I heard it. My other two dogs were mad at me when I got my yorkie, but I reassure them they are just as important to me and give them each their individual time with me. So just hang in there she will come around you just have to talk to her and give her time to warm up. I will say prayers your little furbaby gets better. take care

Donating YT 30K Club Member | She will just need some time to adjust to her new and better home. Congratulations and I am so glad she is safely inside before winter sets in.

| If you have an x-pen, you could set it up outside and put her in that until she gets more accustomed to wearing a harness and being on a leash.

| I'm no expert, but it sounds like she just needs some time to adjust to everything. Gently lead her to whatever she is afraid of and she will adjust to her new surroundings. When I first got Ruger he would cry everytime I got in the shower and closed the curtain. Now he just lies on the rug and falls asleep. I didn't overdo it with lots of talk and petting. He just figured out I wasn't going anywhere by himself. |

| I adopted Lily when she was 6 months old. She was a puppy mill rescue. A lot like your little one, she was afraid of everything. Shadows, loud noises, the leash, the sound of food hitting the bowl..she wouldn't make eye contact and would walk very low to the ground. I felt horrible for her. Its been 9 months and she has made huge strides. She is still skittish about some things. She needs lots of love and patience. Slowly introduce her to new things...going places, car rides, etc. It will take time but she'll come around. Good luck

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | That's funny about the shower. Tallulah does the same thing. I let her stay in the bathroom with me while I shower and she will sit and howl most of the time I'm in there. I have to say I'm using a lot less water these days because I'm in and out as fast as I can make it. Donna -- bless you for taking this poor baby. I think everyone else is right - give her lots of patience and lots of love and she will probably adapt to her new home quite well. |

| Awww. Poor baby; being kept outside all that time. I can't even imagine; yorkies are NOT outside dogs. Already some of those with rescue experience will chime in so I won't offer any additional advice. I hope she soon gets comfortable there (I'll bet she will) and learns to love her new life of luxury. Sounds like baby steps for everything new and patience, patience, patience. Good Luck to you and your baby.
