| VERY UPSET about coworker's daughter's maltipoo...HELP A coworker just came up and started looking up stuff about puppy's normal temperatures. Having worked for a vet i offered that it's usually 101-102 or so if it goes over 103 it's not good. I asked what's up. She finally mentioned after i notice her search trembling and shaking in google that the pup was not fed all day long since they ran out of food and that it's shaking and inactive. i told her it's prob. hypoglycemia and that first i'd get some syrup, karo if yuo have it or maple if you only have that and put an inch on a finger and let it lick it off. then i promptly would rush to the vet because this stuff can take em' down fast and they can die from it. she told her daughter all i'd said and mentioned wetting the food to try to get it to eat something and possibly syringing water to it. i told her if the gums are white it really should be going to the vet and hurry. hope they listen but she keeps wanting to try things first....i'm so upset right now. why do these people keep getting dogs that they can't feed or care for |

| I'm sorry. I can totally relate to the frustration of trying to educate and feeling like everything you are saying is going in one ear and right out the other. It hurts to think that most people don't think of a dog as a family member, to them it's just a dog |

| well the maple syrup helped i guess now it's up following her around. i suggested if it won't eat the kibble trying boiled turkey or chicken even ground beef or rice, mashed potatoes anything you have to get something in it's tummy that's bland. the owner fed it bread and i thought about peanut butter. that has protein and a little sugar kick. so i mentioned peanut butter but not very much just a lick or two. but still strongly suggested going to the vet if it seems at all lethargic or throws up anymore...pray that the little one is going to be alright since it's obvious no vet is in store tonight.. |

| For real? I mean "FOR REAL?!" Is it that ran out of food and forgot or that they can't afford it? I mean if worse comes to worse you can get a small bag of PetPride at Kroger for like 3 bucks! That is just irresponsible pet ownership! Poor baby! Kudos to you for giving her some great advice though! You probably just saved the pup's life!

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | God people like that make me SICK. I bet THEY didnt go without food yesterday!! Even if you couldnt afford to get anymore dog food you would atleast use common sense and give it some people food, Im usually against giving dogs people food but if my dog was so hungry it was throwing up and shaking I would atleast TRY. These people shouldnt be allowed dogs if they cant even afford or be bothered to give them the basic care that they need. You gave really good advice lets just hope they take it!

| This entire situation just screams irresponsible breeding, irresponsible pet ownership and who suffers? That poor puppy who did not ask to be brought into this world. If the lack of food and hypoglycemia doesn't kill this poor puppy the grape sure will do the trick. What a total moron!

| i know it! hopefully it made it through the night without the vet. i'm hoping the maple syrup and some bread and peanut butter was enough to boost sugars and proteins and keep him alive. poor baby. trash is as trash does. |

| I totally agree. I don't get this, how can someone just not feed their dog because they "ran out of food"? I bet they wouldn't skip a meal just because there was no food in the house. Some people don't seem to get that dogs are live animals!

| They ran out of food. Ok, then they should go to the store and buy more!!!!!!!! And they should not be feeding the dog grapes. Grapes and raisins are not good for dogs. My heart goes out to this poor pup! |
