| Clothing questions It's getting colder here, and Roxie has been shivering a lot, so I went to Petsmart to grab a few things to keep her warm. Holy moly was it expensive! It cost nearly $50 for two little fleeces! Anyway, my questions are: > Do you leave your dog's clothes on all day? The heat goes down here while I am at work, and I am sure Roxie gets cold. Do you worry that they will get caught on something, or try to get out of them and hurt themselves while you are not home? > Do you leave them on all night? > Do you change them every day, or let them wear the clothes for a few days before taking them off and washing? Thanks a bunch!

| The first time you put anything on your baby you must be around to see how she behaves. If she doesn't bite or pull or scratch she is safe. I put pj's to both my Yorkies through the night but I take them off in the morning. I never leave them alone on clothes because they are two and they might bite each others clothes, but if she is alone I guess it's OK. I also take the clothes off once a day to brush them because their hair gets tangled. Hope I helped Maria |

| I would not leave clothes on any dog left alone. I don't use collars, and I would not leave a harness on them if they were alone either. I have caught mine in all sorts of predictaments with their harness and clothes that if I had not been there to disentangle, would have caused them distress in the best of worlds, and certainly had the potential to do harm!

If he is having a cold day in the house his jammies or a T'shirt goes on. He never wears them two days in a row. I don't with my clothes either. He does not wear clothes at night as he sleeps with me and has his blanket that he loves to crawl under. Happy Hunting

| Bella Keeps Warm! Hi, Bella wears a sweater when we are cold in the house. We figure if we are cold, she certainly is. I wash them every other day because she wears them outdoors on 2 daily walks. Use woolite and do it by hand in the sink. Easy. The best thing we ever did for her was buy a plastic disc you heat in the microwave. It comes with 2 soft fleece covers. We put it in her crate to warm it up before we put her to bed. When we put her to bed we put it outside the end she cuddles in at night. It radiates heat for 7 hours. We also cover her crate with a quilt. We are in a lakehome in western NY right now so it's getting pretty chilly at night. We also have a heating pad under her crate on the outside set on low to add to her coziness. It's funny, but if she's cold she wants her sweater on and readily puts her head down to have us put it on. If she shows no interest in it, we figure she's okay. She's a tiny so she shivers easily. I bought some really nice, warm jackets at Kwiggy Bow on sale. Got them last year for $10.00 and they are heavy. I always look for clothes that cover her underbelly for cold weather. There are alot of people on YT that sew for very reasonable prices. I'm sure people will post some on this thread. Good luck and stay warm! |

| Clothes I have sweaters on my little ones all the time when I'm home now. I change them every day or at the most every other day, depending on what they did in the yard that day. RU loves to roll around, so his gets pretty dirty fast. I just posted yesterday about finding sweaters at CVS for $6.00 and Target, and WalMart have some really cute things also, if you can find a store that carries them! PetSmart if VERY expensive, Petco is a little cheaper. Target also had some really cute things up front in there bargain section. Good Luck and Stay Warm, we had our first frost here last night in MA!

| I leave sweaters on my dogs all day because it gets kind of chilly sometimes. Also it's almost impossible to keep taking the sweaters off and on all day. I don't dress them in pjs at night because they sleep under my blanket and they keep warm. If you want to find cheaper clothing try looking on the internet under discount or cheap dog clothing. I bought two jackets for my Basset Hounds for $11.99 each. I also bought fleece jackets for them at Walmart for $4.00 each. |

| Fancy wears clothes all day, she has a sweater on right now! I change her clothes daily. She might wear a night shirt or pj's to bed, more so in the winter. But I do keep a shirt or sweater on her daily and if it freezing or below outside I put a coat on her before she goes outside to potty or before we leave the house to run errands. I wash her clothes with the rest of the families though.

| I would say that you really need to see how well Roxie reacts to clothing before leaving it on her when you're not around. If she's rolling around and rubbing on things trying to get out of the shirt, I wouldn't leave it on. If she really doesn't react and isn't trying to chew on them maybe try leaving her for a short time while your outside to see how she is. I would make sure that there isn't anything the clothes could get caught on where you leave her when you're gone. With Finnigan I can leave anything on him, he just sleeps on top of the heat vents when we're gone. Gwenndilyn will try to chew anything left on her off so we can't leave her with anything on her.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Hi I only put clothes on Poppy when we go outside and I keep the heating on in the house during the winter. I wouldnt leave them on her over night or when shes alone incase she got stuck trying to get them off or something. She will probably try and get them off the first few times until she gets used to them.
